Beyond the Pitch: Didier Drogba on leadership, legacy, and building a dignified Africa by Ramata Soré - ITREALMS

Special Interview@ITREALMS ... making leadership SENSE with digital news!

Didier Drogba, born 11 March 1978 in Abidjan, is far more than a footballer: he is a conscience in motion, a profound voice resonating well beyond stadiums, a beating heart for Africa. From 2004 to 2012, and again in 2014-2015, he authored one of Chelsea FC’s greatest sagas, scoring 164 goals, among them the unforgettable equaliser on 19 May 2012 in the UEFA Champions League final, followed by the decisive penalty that delivered Chelsea its first European crown.

As captain of Côte d’Ivoire’s Elephants, he bore the hopes of a nation through three World Cups; 2006, 2010, 2014; and was crowned African Footballer of the Year in 2006. Yet it was in October 2005 that his aura transcended sport: after Côte d’Ivoire’s historic World Cup qualification, while his homeland stood divided, Drogba fell to his knees, imploring the combatants to lay down their arms, a rare gesture that, if only for a time, suspended civil conflict.

In 2007, he founded the Didier Drogba Foundation, with offices in both Abidjan and London, extending his influence on education, healthcare, and the empowerment of African communities.

Since his retirement in 2018, Drogba has embodied unity, commitment, and peace, remaining one of the most beloved figures on the continent. Drogba is not merely a name: he is living memory, a pulse of hope, a vigilant star. In his eyes burn both the fire of a people and the tenderness of a father. He scored goals, yes, but above all, he marked souls. This interview is not about football. It is a pilgrimage into what a man may become when he dares to heed his deepest truth. Thus, Didier Drogba is far more than a legend: he is a presence, a gentle force, an inward voice that whispers without noise.
Didier Drogba, Guardian of the nation and if Côte d’Ivoire were to reinvent political leadership? by Ramata Soré
Today, he no longer plays on grass. He plays for peace, justice, and love. And here, from London where he now resides, he speaks with candour, wholly and unreservedly, in this encounter with Ramata Soré. Excerpts:

How power outages threaten Nigeria’s digital economy dream by Elvis Eromosele - ITREALMS

Commentary@ITREALMS ... making leadership SENSE with digital news!

Recently, I found myself inside a multi-storied shopping complex buzzing with activity. The building was home to laptop shops, phone sales and repair centres, and accessories vendors, an ecosystem of Nigeria’s thriving tech economy. Yet, beneath the hum of commerce was another, more unsettling sound: the deafening roar of generators.
How power outages threaten Nigeria’s digital economy dream by Elvis Eromosele - ITREALMS
The noise was overwhelming, like a thousand engines competing for dominance. One out of every five shops had turned to gas-powered generators, while the rest clung to the more familiar diesel units. In that moment, it struck me: Nigeria’s quest for a digital economy still rests on shaky ground. The greatest stumbling block remains what it has always been, power supply.

Comfort Emmanson: A fragmented digital identity by Remmy Nweke - ITREALMS

Telecoms Clinic@ITREALMS ... making leadership SENSE with digital news!

The chaotic aftermath of a viral event can splinter a person’s identity into a hundred different pieces, each one fighting to be the true narrative. No one embodies this digital fracturing more than Comfort Emmanson. Her life, writes REMMY NWEKE, was not only stolen by a moment of trauma but was then fragmented and commodified by the digital world.
Comfort Emmanson: A fragmented digital identity by Remmy Nweke - ITREALMS
Dateline, August 10:
Before the incident of August 10, 2025, Comfort Emmanson was a hopeful aspiring professional. Online, she curated a public-facing digital life as a “Digital creator” and an aspiring “Fashion model.” With a modest following of 238, she built an identity she wanted the world to see.

Then came the incident at the airport on August 10. A simple altercation over a faulty phone escalated into a public, humiliating ordeal.

Digital self exposed:
In her own words, she was pushed, dragged, and had her clothes pulled off, all while being recorded. Her physical body was exposed, but her digital self was about to be obliterated.

As the video of her trauma went viral, her identity was suspectedly hijacked. Suddenly, a new profile appeared, this one a "Public figure" with a staggering 29,000 followers. This was not Comfort’s page or is it; it was a public spectacle, a digital stand-in for the "missing Kirikiri neighbour."

Her own anguished words, "only God can fight my battle," were reduced to a tagline for this new, impersonal platform.

Her plea to followers to follow her "only page" was a desperate and futile attempt to reclaim a narrative that was no longer her own.

Comfort Emmanson: A fragmented digital identity by Remmy Nweke - ITREALMS
Fragment online life:
The final, chilling fragment of her online life is perhaps the most telling. A social media post Facebook page on August 18 by 12:37am, attributed to her, carried the cold, cynical message: "If you no get money bro avoid me."
