Yojus Painting Star contest records 5, 000 entries from 250 schools



The Brand Manager, Yojus Fruit Drink, Foluke Makinde has disclosed that more than 5, 000 entries from 250 schools in Lagos and Port Harcourt applied for this year’s  Painting Star Contest, ITRealms gathered.

According to her, ‘’the participants are expected to translate this year’s theme, “Our Beautiful World” into paintings using watercolour to win several exciting prizes. We are making Yojus Painting Star contest bigger and better every year. And it is gradually becoming one of the most sort after contest among school children”.

One of the anticipated highlights of the contest is the live painting which would be done by the children at the venue. The contesting students will be asked to draw and paint at the venue, after which the first, second and third place winners will be determined by a panel of three Judges. Aside the competition other students at the event would also be inspired to take part and express themselves through several fun activities and entertainment, ITRealms reports.

In a press release by the company, the Well-loved fun fruit drink brand, said it will be staging the second edition of its annual painting contest, Yojus Painting Star on Saturday, October 24, 2015.

Targeting children between the ages of 6 and 12 years in primary school, ITRealms learnt, the competition aims to encourage creativity and thinking amongst children and provide them with a platform to express themselves.

 Makinde stated that, “Children love to express themselves and one of the ways is through painting. We have just taken this to the next level with the Yojus Painting Star which provides them a medium to showcase their talent, get noticed, appreciated and rewarded. We hope that this contest would inspire them to think creatively and differently as they grow.” 

ITRealms Recalled Yogus was launched in March 2010. It comes in six flavours: Orange, Pineapple, Apple, Blackcurrant, Multifruit and Strawberry. It is popular among children because of its great taste, exciting fruity flavours and nutritional benefits. Earlier this year, Yojus got a makeover with new logo & colourful looking packs.  Yojus fruit drink is manufactured by Ranona Limited.

Misappropriation of N90m tears FGC Ijanikin apart, stalls PTA meeting



 
The alleged misappropriation of over N90 million is currently tearing the community of Federal Government College (FGC)  Ijanikn, Lagos apart, reports ITRealms.

This has placed the school management and some members of the Parents Teachers Association of FGC, Ijanikin.

ITRealms also gathered that this Saturday, October 17, 2015 the allegation which had lead to having a division in the PTA, brought out disruption of the purported election of new officers of the PTA.

This, according to NewsExpress report, was vehemently opposed by the school management led by its principal, Mrs. A.O. Ibukun-Oyewole, paved the way for the invitation to the Nigerian Police Force detachment to the school early on Saturday.

ITRealms recalls that FGC Ijanikin Lagos was formally established late September 1980 when the school moved to its permanent site in Ijanikin after a long travail between 1976 and 1977 session, when classes were held in temporary classroom blocks built on the site of Lagos State Government College, Ojo.

GITEX Technology Week 2015: ITRealms selected for exclusive media preview



Selected media entities including ITRealms have been listed to attend an exclusive media tour before the official opening of GITEX Technology Week 2015 with some of the event’s leading brands.

ITRealms also reports that this exclusive tour has been slated to hold on Sunday, October 18, 2015.

According to the organisers, the selected media registration is expected to open by 8am while the tour itself would commence by 8:30am.

They explained that registration of media selection would be in front of Hall 6 while the assembling point would be the Loop Café, newa Hall 7.

“All media must register in advance of the tour to enter halls,” the organisers said.

They emphasized that media attending the tour would be given security clearance to enter the halls before 9 am. While tour would end at ZabeelHall for the Official Opening.

Ecobank Economics & Business Award: Femi Asu wins



 
Femi Asu, a journalist with Nigeria’s Punch Newspaper, has emerged winner of the Ecobank Economics & Business Award at the 2015 CNN MultiChoice African Journalist Awards, ITRealms reports.

In a press release by the bank, Ecobank Group Head of Corporate Communications, Richard Uku, presented the award to Mr Asu at a gala ceremony marking the 20th anniversary of the CNN MultiChoice African Journalist Awards at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre in Nairobi, Kenya on Saturday.

“The Ecobank Economics and Business Award recognizes the excellence of journalistic reporting in this important field, and we are delighted to present the award to Femi Asu for the talent he has exhibited. Ecobank is pleased to be a long-time partner with CNN and MultiChoice in the promotion of excellence in African journalism,” Aku said.

In his winning story, Small businesses in death throes as power supply worsens, Femi Asu reports on the issue facing many Nigerian entrepreneurs, and exposes a major problem for those struggling to grow their businesses. He explains how enormous expenses associated with electricity, coupled with worsening power from the national grid, eat into profits. He shows how many young Nigerians, whose projects could create jobs for others and whose success is crucial to growing the economy, are crippled by prohibitive costs and are going out of business, ITRealms gathered.

The judging panel, which selected the entry from among many other spanning 39 nations across the African continent, said: “This is a story about how the lack of stable electricity supply harms small businesses in Nigeria. Femi Asu focused on an issue not particular to Nigeria but to many African countries. With detailed examples, the author demonstrates how businesses are severely affected including in some cases closing down with huge consequences on the country’s economic development. The piece is well written with the reader taken on a journey that highlights the issue with affected individuals and businesses. Excellent research.”
