Nigeria, Palestine sign deal to combat corruption - ITREALMS

Nigeria’s Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has signed two Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) with the State of Palestine’s Anti-Corruption Commission and the International Anti-Corruption Academy (IACA) based in Laxenburg, Austria.
The agreements are part of measures by the ICPC to enhance its fight against corruption in the country.

The Chairman of the ICPC, Prof. Bolaji Owasanoye, SAN, signed the two agreements on behalf of Nigeria while the Commissioner of the Anti-Corruption Commission of the State of Palestine, Mr. Raed Radwan, signed for his country and the Dean of IACA, Thomas Stelzer, signed for his organisation.

The Group Chief Executive Officer of Airtel Africa, Mr. Segun Ogunsanya, has commended the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) for a transparent 5G auction completed on December 13, 2021 while adducing reasons for its pulling out of the the exercise, reports

In a press statement available to ITREALMS, Mr. Ogunsanya confirmed that the Nigerian subsidiary of the company pulled out of the auction after submitting its final bid of $270m.

MTN and Mafab Communications have emerged winners of the 3.5GHz spectrum auction at the price of $273 million during round 11, just as Airtel dropped after the 10th round, reports

The 3.5 Ghz spectrum auction was to facilitate the deployment of 5G technology in the country, which has thrown up only two slots.
ITREALMS gathered that MTN had offered additional $15.900 million for a preferred spectrum lot above the $11.120 million offered by Mafab.

The fourth round ITREALMS recalled commenced with $209,497,962.50 at the auction holding at the Transcorp Hilton Abuja.

This also followed the conclusion of the third rounds of the exercise with all the three bidders closing on $204,388,256.10.

ITREALMS recalls that the first round of the ongoing 5G Spectrum license auction, commenced precisely by 12.58 pm on Monday at the Transcorp Hilton in Abuja with the opening bid price of $199,347,000, up from the reserved price of $197.4 million.

ITREALMS also gathered that earlier the three bidders were given 20 minutes to indicate their agreement with the current bid price, reject the price or indicate a much higher price.

Noteworthy is that at the end of the first round all the three bidders agreed to pay the current offer of $199.347 million.

This bidding prince has since gone up into the second and now the third price of $204,388,256.10.
