The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, has solicited the support of the Lagos State Government towards the successful hosting of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) Global Conference on Tourism, Culture and the Creative Industries, scheduled to hold at the National Theatre, Lagos, 14-16 November 2022.

The Minister, who led some members of the conference's Planning Committee on a courtesy visit to the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Thursday, said Lagos was selected as the host city because of its premier role in tourism, culture and the creative industries.

I got up this morning feeling nostalgic about the good old days. The days I had to pay Twenty (N20.00) Naira only as boarding fee per term in the secondary school. Ten (N10.00) Naira only was for tuition. Meals served were above average both in quality and quantity. I finished my West African School Certificate Examination and got employed shortly after as an Auxiliary Teacher in another secondary school. Life was safe. You could travel to anywhere by any means, day or night without fear of being robbed, kidnapped or killed. Things were predictable - school calendar, employment, commodity prices, etc. All one needed was to plan, and then work towards your goal.

It all ended with the emergence of General Muhammadu Buhari through a military coup. Yes, the same Buhari that is here again with us like Soyinka's Abiku - coming and going these several times, leaving behind tears, woes and wailings as never before ever seen or heard.

The Director General, National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Kashifu Inuwa has said the implementation of the service-wide Enterprise Content Management (ECM) solution, organized by the Office of Head of Civil Service of the Federation, will result in an annual saving of about N4.5 billion in Nigeria, reports ITREALMS.

Inuwa, who was represented by the Director, Information Technology Infrastructure Solutions (ITIS) Dr. Usman Gambo Abdullahi disclosed this while presenting a paper at the one-day ECM Service-Wide Round Table Workshop on ECM implementation with the topic "The Modalities of Software Clearance on ECM Solution for MDAs" at the Rotunda Hall, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Abuja.

The Oyo State Governor, ‘Seyi Makinde, on Monday, charged the new Deputy Governor of the state, Barrister Abdulraheem Adebayo Adeleke Lawal, to see his position as a responsibility to deliver good governance to the people of Oyo State.

The Guild of Corporate Online Publishers (GOCOP) has rejected in strong voice an attempt by the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) to trample on media rights in the country and usurp the powers of the National Assembly (NASS) under the guess of ‘Code of Practice for Interactive Computer Service Platforms/Internet Intermediaries,’  reports ITREALMS.

GOCOP also advised NITDA to immediately jettison this code in its entirety or be ready to face legal action.

One successful strategy for businesses entering the Nigerian market is localisation. A strong long-term localisation strategy will help in establishing a presence among locals, earning their trust and eventually building brand loyalty. It is equally critical, however, for businesses to understand that localisation entails more than just providing pricing in local currencies. Instead, it has to be a holistic approach that involves customers, employees, and other relevant stakeholders.
