Despite all efforts made by Law Enforcement Agencies and many Anti-fraud Organisations to reduce cyber crime to the barest minimum, research revealed that cyber criminals are becoming more sophisticated in their illegal activities, they are developing new fraud schemes every day with change in technologies.
However, the greatest weapon of all current and intending users of internet against cyber criminals is "knowledge" about the most common online scams and how to avoid them.

Government of Katsina State has confirmed shut down of telecommunications infrastructure in the domain as part of measures to crackdown on banditry in the northern Nigeria, reports

Confirming this, the Katsina State Security Adviser, Ibrahim Ahmed reportedly told Reuters by phone that the government directed a communications blackout in 13 local government areas to hinder criminality in the region.

FG approves 5G deployment nationwide - ITREALMS


The Federal Government (FG) has approved the deployment of the Fifth Generation Network, otherwise called 5G in nationwide,  reports ITREALMS.
The Honourable Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Prof. Isa Ali Ibrahim-Pantami, was quoted by the Director of Public Affairs a the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) Dr Ikechukwu Adinde in a press statement available to ITREALMS as saying that the approval was given after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting in Abuja on Wednesday, September 8, 2021.

Zamfara shutdown: MRA condemns NCC’s directive to telecos - ITREALMS

The Media Rights Agenda (MRA) has condemned the September 3 directive of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) to telecommunications companies to immediately shutdown all telecommunications services in Zamfara State, ostensibly as a result of the “pervading security situation” in the State, describing the measure as an unwarranted and unjustifiable interference with the rights to freedom of expression and access to information.
In a statement issued in Lagos, MRA’s Communications Officer, Mr. Idowu Adewale, noted that the NCC, which is supposed to be a regulatory agency, has increasingly become a tool in the hands of the Federal Government for the indiscriminate violation of the rights of Nigerians, arguing that “Such purported exercise of power without safeguards to deny communications services not only to the residents of Zamfara State, but also to other people everywhere who have family members, friends, loved one as well as other social or business relations in the State of the right to communicate with them, without judicial or any other form of independent oversight, cannot be justified under any circumstance.”

Shell donates multimillion dollar projects to Maritime University - ITREALMS

The Governor of Delta State, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, has described the phase one of infrastructure projects donated to the Nigerian Maritime University in Okerenkoko, Delta State by The Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Limited (SPDC) and its joint venture partners as a great enhancer of learning and research.

Okowa spoke last week at the opening of a 220-capacity set of auditoriums, eight lecture rooms, one e-classroom and 14 staff offices forming part of the many projects that the SPDC JV planned for the three-year-old specialised institution set up in response to the information and technology revolution in the global maritime industry, an area Nigeria looks at for developing more professionals for its blue economy ambition.
Represented by the state Commissioner for Oil and Gas, Prince Emmanuel Amgbaduba, Okowa charged other oil companies and businesses particularly those in the maritime sector to emulate the gesture of the SPDC JV in helping Nigeria develop future talent of maritime professionals. ‘Insfrastructure such as what Shell and its partners have provided and still plan to provide forms the bedrock of meanful learning, teaching and research that can stand our institutions out in global ranking while helping the university to overcome the chronic shortage in infrastructure.”
