The incumbent president of the Nigeria Computer Society (NCS), Dr. Muhammad Sirajo Aliyu, has won his second term bid at the just concluded 2025 Annual General Meeting (AGM) in the city of Kano, Kano State, reports ITREALMS.
A well-known Associate Professor of Computer Science and Director of Information Communication Technology at the Federal University Dutse (FUD), Jigawa State, Dr. Aliyu's victory was a clear mandate from the NCS membership.
His running mate, Dr. Charles Onyeukwu, also secured the Vice Presidency, signaling a unified leadership. The new executive council, a mix of seasoned professionals and fresh voices, is set to steer the Nigeria Computer Society for the next two years.
The official declaration of results also unveiled the new committee chairpersons starting with the charismatic Mrs. Shulammite Ileibiyi who was elected to preside the Publicity, Events, and Trade Services. She promised to raise the NCS's profile.
Also, Dr. Nwaocha Vivian Ogochukwu was voted in as Chairperson of the Innovation, Research, and Development Committee, a popular choice among the younger tech professionals.
While the respected Mr. Olusegun Alabi emerged to lead the Ethics and Disciplinary Committee, a role many believe he is uniquely suited for.
Additionally, ITREALMS gathered that a new map of leadership emerged as the Zonal Coordinators were announced, starting with Dr. Oyerinde Oyeyinka Dantala capturing the North Central zone, having ran an impressive grassroots campaign.
In the South-South region, members chose Prof. Veronica Ijebusomma Osubor, a long-time academic and advocate for tech education. Whereas other key victories included Mr. Moshood Tunde Ogunremi in the South West and Mrs. Magareth John David in the North West.
