I recall with fond nostalgia that while growing up, after torrential rains, we will gather outside in the community and play gleefully. One play I enjoyed so much at that time was pelting stones into bodies of water which would have gathered still looking for exit routes. The ripple effect of that stone landing in the water would form rings in that body of water. I was later to learn that the rings formed is known as water viscosity.
In recent times, it has come to note that when some personalities make public statements, it sends shockwaves throughout the world like the stone does in still water. These personalities unfortunately are helpless when they occupy positions of public trust. In Nigeria, this kind of personalities abound. The usual reaction to statements made by those in the aforementioned category is usually a dismissal with many viewed as mere political jobbers who are either playing scripts of their pay masters or even seeking cheap relevance. Some others on the other hand enjoy some level of notoriety as such even the slightest jokes about national issues from them are regarded as ‘German jokes’.

As this extraordinary year 2020 comes to a close, the Nigerian Left appears to be faced with a mocking challenge partly orchestrated by radical and Leftwing social media: “revolution or state failure.” It is a challenge also appearing to leap directly from the packed events of the year: Coronavirus pandemic, youth protest or #EndSars, deepening mass poverty and desperation, Boko Haram and kindred insurgencies, banditry, kidnapping and armed robbery, deepening class exploitation and state robbery, state delinquency, increasing resort to fascist approaches to governance, increasing separatist agitations, state violence and lawlessness, generalized insecurity and the emergence of state-inspired, state protected, but formally “non-state” fascist movements.

The Federal Government (FG) has granted permission to members of the Association of Licensed Telecommunications Operators of Nigeria (ALTON) to now replace Subscribers Identification Module (SIM), reports ITREALMS.
Confirming this development in an update on SIM Registration and National Identification Number (NIN) Integration made available to ITREALMS, ALTON revealed that their members have been granted permission to replace SIM for telecom subscribers in the country.

The organizers of the #EndSARS National Poetry Competition have announced the winners of the just concluded national poetry competition aimed at combating and campaigning against Police brutality, assault and battery, with Godstime Nwaeze winning the star prize of 100$, reports ITREALMS.
The winners were meritoriously picked from the 20 shortlisted entries earlier picked by Terseer Sam Baki.
Terseer Sam Baki is a celebrated poet and all round writer. He is the author of the poetry collection, 'Euphoria of Sophistry' and has published in several anthologies. Terseer Sam Baki is also the immediate past General Secretary of the Association of Nigerian Authors, ANA, Benue State chapter. He holds a degree in English Education and currently pursuing his Masters in Language Education at the Benue State University, Makurdi.

The online publishers under the aegis of the Guild of Corporate Online Publishers (GOCOP) have bemoaned the death of their member, Mr. Ben Bright-Mkpuma, publisher of Watchdog Reporters.
Bright-Mkpuma, aged 52, died on Christmas Day in his sleep after battling kidney failure for five years.

Worried by the rise in the speed-related road crashes, the Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety (FRSC), Dr Boboye Oyeyemi, has expressed deep concerns and directed Commanding Officers to step up enforcement of the law on use of speed limiting device, reports ITREALMS.
This was disclosed by the Corps Public Education Officer, Assistant Corps Marshal Bisi Kazeem in a press release issued in Abuja on Sunday.
