This followed its Standing Committee Meeting in Owerri at the weekend with the Guild issuing a communiqué, calling for immediate and decisive action from the government on the economy, insecurity, governance, and the media industry.
While acknowledging the federal government's reform efforts, the NGE noted with concern that the impact of these policies has become increasingly unbearable for the poor. The Guild urged the government to implement more robust safety nets to mitigate the effects of hardship, inflation, and poverty.
On the issue of insecurity, the NGE called for a holistic approach, emphasizing the need for enhanced intelligence gathering, community policing, and strategic partnerships with all relevant stakeholders.
