The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) celebrated International Girls in ICT Day, observed annually during the last week of April, with a focus on ‘Access and Safety’ reports ITREALMS.SITU also said that was part of its key elements to engage the next generation with information and communication technology (ICT), even as it partnered with interests worldwide to foster STEM learning, engagement, and careers for girls.

NCC issues final letters of licence to 5G spectrum winners - ITREALMS

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has confirmed issuance of the final letters of award of the Fifth Generation (5G) Spectrum Licences to MTN and Mafab Communications, winners of the 3.5GHz spectrum auction conducted by the Commission on Monday, December 13, 2021.
Management of the Commission led by its Executive Vice Chairman (EVC) Prof. Umar Garba Danbatta confirmed this to the Board of Commissioners at the Board's Special Meeting, which took place on Wednesday, April 20 and Thursday, April 21, 2022, where the Board considered updates from Management on the status of the spectrum auction.

The Lagos-based International Press Centre (IPC) has urged the global community, especially professionals and technology users on the need to safeguard the press freedom, reports ITREALMS.The Executive Director of IPC, Mr. Lanre Arogundade made this call on the occasion of the 2022 World Press Freedom Day (WPFD) and enjoined the Nigerian government to respect its commitment and uphold the right to freedom of expression as enshrined in Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the African Charter on Peoples and Human Rights.

The European Union and the British Council have trained about 40 Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) in Rivers State on compliance requirements on regulatory frameworks to make them more efficient in monitoring ills in society.
Lead Facilitator of the training, Prof Adedeji Adekunle, said the training would make CSOs good corporate citizens, better equipped to comply with the law, thereby positioning them to challenge wrongs in the society.
