The two universities include the premier University of Ibadan, Oyo State and Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi State, were endowed with N20 million each over the next two years to embark on massive research to promote innovation to drive socio-economic development in the country.

Opera’s African user base reached 150 million in Q3-2020

In Q3-2020, the Opera user base in Africa showed a strong 18% growth of YOY across all our products, reaching a combined user base of 150 million monthly active users. We see significant growth in our apps like Opera Mini and Opera News, and we’re confident that our growth will continue next year.

We believe that developing better browsers and news apps that offer great features and personalized content has been key to Opera’s continued growth across Africa in 2020. Google account holders have until June 1, 2021, to ensure their storage and electronic mail (Gmail) comply with the new policies, reports ITREALMS

. 
This, Google, said would affect Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drawings, Forms, and Jamboard files as well as Google Photos, thus bringing the company in line with industry practices. 

An email to Google account holders available to ITREALMS, the technology company said the summary of the new policies, effective June 1, 2021 include that “If you're inactive for 2 years (24 months) in Gmail, Drive or Photos, we may delete the content in the product(s) in which you're inactive. Google One members who are within their storage quota and in good-standing will not be impacted by this new inactive policy. 

“If you exceed your storage limit for 2 years, we may delete your content across Gmail, Drive and Photos.” 

ITREALMS also gathered that this entails Google account holders would not be impacted by these changes unless “you've been inactive or over your storage limit for 2 years, insisting that as this policy goes into effect June 1, 2021, the earliest it would be enforced is June 1, 2023. 

After June 1, 2021, ITREALMS gathered that account holders either inactive or over their storage limit, will sent an email reminders and notifications in advance and prior to deleting any content. 

“Even if you are either inactive or over your storage limit for one or more of these services and content is deleted, you will still be able to sign in,” officials submitted.

In commemoration of this year’s International Anti-Corruption Day, the Human and Environmental Development Agenda (HEDA Resource Centre) has announced December 9, 2020 as the day to publicly present its latest research work, the 4th edition of a “Compendium on 100 High Profile Corruption Cases in Nigeria,” noting that the presentation will be broadcast live on the organisation’s social medial platforms.

According to a statement issued by the organization in Lagos, the annual compendium provides members of the general public with verifiable information on some protracted 100 high profile corruption cases that began since 2005, detailing: parties involved, case number, nature of offence, amount involved, year case was filed, court and judges to which the case was assigned, status and circumstances surrounding the case.

Chairman of HEDA, Mr Olanrewaju Suraju who signed the statement said: “The Compendium was a product of thorough research and analyses by experts with the aim of assisting the public, the media, researchers, law enforcement agencies and judiciary leadership with information handy enough for ease of reference in order to challenge and reform the system on the need for speedy dispensation of justice in anticorruption cases while also raising the importance of transparency and accountability, given corruption induced developmental setback in Nigeria.”

Citing the Chatham House’s report, Mr Suraju said about USD582 billion has been stolen in Nigeria since independence, thereby undermining the institution of critical infrastructure and development in the Country, a situation which has also earned the country the title of poverty capital of the world with over 80 million extremely poor people.

Concerned about the attitudinal dispositions of Nigerians towards the fight against corrupt, despite its obviously huge consequences, he said: “It is however worrisome that Nigerians continue to celebrate looters of the country’s resources who have impoverished them. Nigerians continue to give chieftaincy titles and organise red carpet reception for many of these alleged looters. Therefore, the Compendium seeks to cure the people of this dangerous amnesia and thus increase citizens’ awareness of those high profile corruption cases to hold the suspects, anticorruption agencies and administration of criminal justice system accountable to the people.”

Mr. Suraju added that this 4th edition of the compendium was preceded by: investigative researches, analyses and identification of high-profile corruption cases not listed in the previous editions.

HEDA noted that corruption has become a global virus threatening various countries of the world - attacking the root of democratic institutions by distorting electoral processes, distorting the rule of law and creating bureaucratic bogs whose only reason for existing is soliciting of bribes, the UN launched a global fight against it, on October 31, 2003 as the General Assembly adopted Resolution 58/4 which is the United Nations Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC) (effective, December 2005), and also designated December 9 as International Anti-Corruption Day, to raise awareness of corruption and of the role of the Convention in combating and preventing it.

The organisation said it keyed into global efforts at combating corruption by launching the compendium on this Day on December 9, 2017 and sustaining the efforts every year since then. It therefore urged all Nigerians at home and in diaspora, the spirit of this year’s theme, “Recover with Integrity” to also key into this global initiative by downloading the latest edition of the Compendium from the organisation’s website, www.hedang.org, Twitter handle, @HEDAgenda, or request a hard copy from HEDA’s office from December 9, 2020 and use the information contained in it to help further the fight against corruption in their own ways.

As part of its commitment to ensure that residents at the grassroots have access to affordable, effective and quality healthcare, the Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA), has partnered with First Bank of Nigeria Limited to use its 13,000 Firstmonie Agents as payment channels for the Lagos State Health Scheme (LSHS).

The General Manager, Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA), Dr. Emmanuella Zamba, made the disclosure during the flag off of the partnership in Alausa, saying that the partnership became necessary to facilitate ease of health insurance premium transactions for residents, especially at the grassroots.

The AUDA- NEPAD Communications Unit is currently running an African Youth Art Calendar contest which commenced from November 16, 2020, through December 15, 2020, reports ITREALMS.

The contest, AUDA said would encourage African youth to innovate and be creative in showcasing the mandate of the AUDA-NEPAD as tied to the Agenda 2063 Vision.

With effect from June 1, 2020, Google Account holders will be facing new storage policies for Gmail and its Google Drive as inactive accounts would be deleted, reports ITREALMS

This, Google, said would affect Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drawings, Forms, and Jamboard files as well as Google Photos, thus bringing the company in line with industry practices.

An email to Google account holders available to ITREALMS, the technology company said the summary of the new policies, effective June 1, 2021 include that “If you're inactive for 2 years (24 months) in Gmail, Drive or Photos, we may delete the content in the product(s) in which you're inactive. Google One members who are within their storage quota and in good-standing will not be impacted by this new inactive policy.

“If you exceed your storage limit for 2 years, we may delete your content across Gmail, Drive and Photos.”

ITREALMS also gathered that this entails Google account holders would not be impacted by these changes unless “you've been inactive or over your storage limit for 2 years, insisting that as this policy goes into effect June 1, 2021, the earliest it would be enforced is June 1, 2023.

After June 1, 2021, ITREALMS gathered that account holders either inactive or over their storage limit, will sent an email reminders and notifications in advance and prior to deleting any content.

“Even if you are either inactive or over your storage limit for one or more of these services and content is deleted, you will still be able to sign in,” officials submitted.

Early this year, I reflected on the ‘silence of God’ to underscore our struggle with God’s delayed response to our prayers. 

Today, I only amplify the point I made then because in my recent travels, I am shocked to see the number of young people that are turning to idol worship.
