Following alarm raised over gully erosion rapidly undermining the expressway at the Obosi/Asaba interchange of the Second Niger Bridge, emergency remedial work has officially commenced, reports ITREALMS.Site photographs obtained on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, confirm that heavy construction equipment and engineering personnel have been deployed to the affected sector to stabilize the failing embankment and prevent further undercutting of the highway structure.

The Movement for the Survival of the Ogoni People (MOSOP) and the Ogoni Liberation Initiative have criticized the federal government over recent remarks made by the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, concerning the resumption of oil production in Ogoni noting that the statement was insensitive and damaging to a healing process undertaken by MOSOP over the past five years.The groups further noted that the Ogoni people were yet to recover from the pains of the past and do not need to be reminded of the evils done to them by previous Nigerian regimes neither do they need to be subjected to renewed state repression.

Dangote Group pays N402.3bn tax to FG - ITREALMS

The Pan African Conglomerate Dangote Industries Limited, (Dangote Group), and its subsidiaries has disclosed that it paid over N402 billion in taxes in 2024, making it the highest taxpayer in the country.Dangote’s Chief Branding and Communication Officer, Anthony Chiejina, declared during a meeting with some senior media executives who visited him in his Lagos Office that Dangote Industries Limited (DIL) and its subsidiaries, namely, Dangote Cement, NASCON, Dangote Packaging Limited among others, remitted a total of N402.319billion for the out-gone year as taxes as responsible business enterprises.

The Federal Government has clarified that it has not discontinued the use of Remita as the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) approved payment gateway, reports ITREALMS.A press statement by the Director of Press and Public Relations, Bawa Mokwa, and available to ITREALMS, the OAGF clarified that Remita will be integrated into the Treasury Management and Revenue Assurance System (TMRAS) alongside other eligible Payment Solution Service Providers (PSSPs).
