The United Nations (UN) Secretary-General, Mr. Antonia Guetress has approved the appointment of the 2025 members of the Internet Governance Forum (IGF) Multistakeholders Advisory Group (MAG), including Ms. Inné, Anne-Rachel of Niger, and Nigerian Dr. Jimson Olufuye, reports ITREALMS.

This is coming as Ms. Roach, Carol, who is the Bahamas’ Under Secretary, Ministry of Economic Affairs as the second term chair, while Mr. Martinsen, Ole-Martin from the host country of Norway and Policy Director for Digitalization and Emerging Technologies, Ministry of Foreign Affairs as the co-chair.

A total of nine banks may be disconnected before end of this month due to unpaid debt arising from deployment of Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (USSD) Codes with Zenith, Fidelity, United Bank for Africa (UBA) and Sterling Bank leading the list, reports ITREALMS.

Other financial institutions that may be affected include First City Monument Bank, Jaiz Bank Plc, Polaris Bank Limited, Unity Bank Plc, and Wema Bank Plc.

The reasons for the latest approval by the nation’s telecoms regulator, the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) to telecommunications companies, especially the Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) to disconnect some nine indebted financial institutions have emerged, reports ITREALMS.

NCC had on Wednesday, January 15, 2025 issued a public notice of the approval to telcos to withdraw Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (USSD) Codes assigned by the Commission to financial institutions over unreconciled over N200 billion indebtedness.

As the case between Citadel Oracle Concept Limited and Zinox Technologies returns to court, a document from the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) has put a lie to the claim under oath by Benjamin Joseph, CEO of Citadel, that he was not aware of the contract executed by his company at FIRS.

It will be recalled that Joseph, in his statement on oath in suit No: LD/4335/2014 in the High Court of Justice, Lagos State, dated 28th June, 2019, averred that his company, Citadel, did not execute any contract with FIRS and that he was not aware that a contract had been awarded to Citadel.

On Friday, January 17, 2025, the Left, comprising Marxists, socialists, feminists, progressive academics, and humanists, will converge on the ancient city of Calabar for the interment of Prof Benedicta ‘Bene’ Madunagu, who died on Tuesday, November 26, 2024. Prof. Bene Madunagu, known to different people as Comrade Bene, Mumsy B, Auntie Bene, among other endearing names, was the quintessence of the struggle for human progress.

In terms of my upbringing, apart from my mother, this exceptional feminist was the most consequential woman in my life. I had the great honour of meeting her in the late 1980s as a student at the University of Calabar. I had joined the Movement for Progressive Nigeria (MPN), a revolutionary students’ movement on campus, which she and Comrade Edwin Madunagu, her friend, Comrade, and spouse, had founded in 1977 to ground students politically and ideologically.
