The Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Limited (SPDC) has dismissed the purported takeover of Kidney Island asset of the SPDC Joint Venture in Port Harcourt by the Rivers State Government in the exercise of rights purportedly acquired through a court auction process that is still the subject of ongoing appeals at the Court of Appeal sitting in Port Harcourt.

According to SPDC, any purported exercise of rights allegedly acquired through that process including any attempt to take over or seal up the Kidney Island asset or other assets of the SPDC JV to satisfy claims in pending suits is premature and prejudicial to the ongoing court proceedings, and therefore not recognised.

HP Incorporated and Nigerian authorities have successfully halted the potential sale of over 54,000 counterfeit goods, including ready-for-sale fraudulent toner and ink cartridges, reports ITREALMS.

As part of efforts at deepening compliance with the transparency standards dictated by the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) as a supporting company, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has appointed an Implementation Programme manager, reports ITREALMS.

The manager, Ms. Murjanatu Ibrahim Gamawa would help drive speedy attainment of the EITI requirements across its operations. 

A press release by the group General Manager, Group Public Affairs Division, Dr. Kennie Obateru, stated that Ms. Gamawa’s appointment which will take effect from January 2021 was a practical step towards entrenching the culture of transparency in the Corporation.

Ms. Gamawa, a petroleum geologist, was until her appointment, the EITI Country Manager in charge of coordinating implementation of EITI standards across Anglophone Africa.

She also worked at the Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI) as a petroleum analyst and team lead of the Oil and Gas Team.

Gamawa’s wealth of experience across the Oil and Gas industry and in EITI mandate implementation is expected to boost the Corporation’s compliance strategy and roadmap.
