As the 40th edition of the GITEX Technology Week kicks off tomorrow in Dubia, Nigeria would join over 80 other countries in participating with focus on youth-led enterprises, reports ITREALMS.
The four-day event, ITREALMS gathered, holds between December 6 and 10, this year, at the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) in Dubia.

Nigeria’s participation in GITEX 2020 is anchored on promoting youth-led enterprises to showcase innovations coming from its tech startups community, and the country’s strong policy-thrust on digital economy.

The United State (US) has removed the final part of visa reciprocity fees on Nigeria, reports ITREALMS.



"Effective December 2, 2020, the reciprocity schedule for Nigeria changed to remove all reciprocity fees for the nonimmigrant visa categories," official confirmed.

The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) has published the Radio Regulations Table of Frequency Allocations Software as well as the Maritime Manual, which provides details on the modern maritime radio systems and the operational procedures to be followed by a ship or coast station in the event of a distress situation at sea.​

"We are delighted to avail the Maritime Manual and the Table of Frequency Allocations Software to our membership, which are the result of the hard-won agreements reached at the 2019 World Radiocommunication Conference," said ITU Secretary-General Houlin Zhao.

ICPC tracks 722 constituency projects - ITREALMS

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has tracked some 722 constituency projects across the country, reports ITREALMS.


According to the phase 2 interim report of Constituency and Executive Projects Tracking Initiative (CEPTi) made available to ITREALMS by ICPC, the 722 projects selected for tracking within the focal sectors of education, water resources, agriculture, power and health.

Buhari mourns Gen. Domkat Bali - ITREALMS

The President, General Muhammadu Buhari, retired, has condoled with the people and government of Plateau State over the passing of an illustrious son and highly decorated retired military officer, Gen. Domkat Bali, who served the country as Minister of Defence died at the age of 80 years, reports 
ITREALMS.

Buhari, ITREALMS gathered, spoke with the wife of the deceased, Esther on Friday, also commiserated with other family members, friends and professional associates of the former member of the Supreme Military Council and Armed Forces Ruling Council, after rising through the ranks, with a distinguished military career, reaching the peak as Chief of Defence Staff. 

The Senior Special Assistant to the President, Media & Publicity, Garba Shehu quoted President Buhari in a press statement available to ITREALMS as believing that the records of bravery and patriotism of Gen. Bali, the Ponzhi Tarok, will continue to inspire young military officers, while the foundation he laid in all the commands he headed will always be remembered.

Meanwhile the Federal Government (FG) has constituted a delegation led by the Minister of Defence, Maj-Gen. Bashir Salihi Magashi (rtd) to visit the family, and condole with government and people of the state over the loss.

Further, Buhari prayed that the Almighty God will receive the soul of the departed and comfort his family.

US Opportunity Funds: 19 Nigerians to benefit from $2.17m scholarship - ITREALMS

Nineteen high achieving, low-income students from southern Nigeria have received full scholarships totaling $2.17 million to attend American universities and colleges for the 2020/2021 academic session. This feat was made possible through the Opportunity Funds Program of the United States Consulate General in Lagos, with support from Coca-Cola Nigeria Limited.
During a reception held in Lagos in honor of the U.S. bound students, United States Consul General Claire Pierangelo congratulated each of them on their successes. She urged the scholars to make the most of their opportunity to get a top-notch education while gaining first-hand experience of American life and culture.

Why Shell, NNPC donated ICT Centre to Enugu State varsity - ITREALMS

Leading deep-water energy company, The Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company (SNEPCo) has donated a state-of-the-art Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Centre to the Enugu State University of Science and Technology as part of the NNPC/SNEPCo ICT support programme launched in 2007 under the sponsorship of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), reports ITREALMS.
Handing over the facility to the state government, recently, Managing Director of SNEPCo, Bayo Ojulari, said the ICT centre would help students and teachers to maximize the value of quality education in information and technology in the fast-paced digital world.

Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG) has won the most outstanding contribution in the industry award as a joint winner at the ongoing 2020 World LNG Virtual Summit and Award, reports 
ITREALMS.
 

NLNG emerged the winner alongside Kpler in a nomination group comprising British Petroleum (B.P.), Chart Industries, Natural Gas Company (DEFA), Qatar Petroleum and Sempra LNG. The award was the first of two awarded by summit organiser, DMG Events. According to DMG Events, the Annual LNG Award is awarded to a company from the LNG value chain that has excelled in the previous 12 months and made positive commercial or technical contribution to the LNG business.

The technology analyst firm Omdia  in its latest research highlighted that established heat rejection technologies such as Direct Expansion (DX), Chilled Water and Evaporative Cooling continue to dominate while also becoming more sustainable. The Federal Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed has denied media report that Nigeria is at the mercy of Boko Haram, reports 
ITREALMS.

Speaking to ITREALMS at a ministerial briefing on Tuesday in Lagos, the minister decried the report, saying that it was a sheer fabrication of the publishing house, lamenting the influx of unconfirmed social media reports and effects on the future of the country.
