Top government officials, media chiefs, and dignitaries are set to attend the 3rd Lateef Jakande Memorial Lecture, scheduled to hold on Wednesday, July 23, 2025 being hosted by the Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE), reports ITREALMS

The lecture would take place at Edmark D'Podium International Event Center, 31 Aromire Road by Abeniri Jones Road, Ikeja, Lagos, starting from 10am., according to Mr. Eze Anaba, President of NGE, and his General Secretary, Mr. Onuoha Ukeh, in a press statement available to 
ITREALMS.

The event, they said, promises to be a significant gathering of stakeholders in the media and government.

Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, will deliver this year's lecture on the theme: "Journalism and the Challenges of Nation-Building in a Multi-Ethnic Society," with Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, as Special Guest of Honour.

Other notable guests include the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, and Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mallam Mohammed Idris.

As noted by Eze Anaba and Onuoha Ukeh, the lecture series aims to celebrate Alhaji Jakande's remarkable contributions to journalism, public service, and governance.

Several media chiefs will serve as discussants to the main paper, including Chief Femi Adesina, former Special Adviser to the former President on Media and Publicity; Managing Director of Punch Newspapers, Joseph Adeyeye; Director of News, Television Continental (TVC), Stella Din-Jacobs; and Mrs. Funke Egbemode, former Commissioner of Information, Osun State.

As said by the NGE leadership, this diverse panel will provide valuable insights into the challenges and opportunities in nation-building through journalism.

The Lateef Jakande Memorial Lecture series, 
ITREALMS which began in 2023, has provided a platform for insightful discussions on the challenges and opportunities in nation-building through journalism.

This year's lecture promises to be another thought-provoking discussion, bringing together stakeholders in the media and government to share ideas and perspectives.

Eze Anaba and Onuoha Ukeh expressed confidence that the lecture would be a significant contribution to the ongoing discourse on the role of journalism in nation-building.
