Presidential media aide, Olusegun Dada, was quoted as saying that Babangida has officially accepted the appointment and expressed deep gratitude to President Tinubu for the trust placed in him.

Dada described the circulating letter, which claimed Babangida declined the appointment due to personal and professional considerations, as "false and malicious."

The letter, dated July 21, 2025, was shared by Dele Momodu, publisher of Ovation Magazine, who also praised Babangida's decision on Instagram, saying "Well done, Muhammed, for rejecting a Greek gift."

The Presidency has assured the public that those behind the fake reports would be identified and held accountable, emphasizing their commitment to transparency, accountability, and fostering unity within the nation.

Muhammed Babangida's appointment was part of a batch of fresh leadership selections made by President Tinubu to strengthen key government institutions.

In response to the controversy, the Babangida family's media consultant, Deyemi Saka, clarified that the purported letter of rejection is fake and urged the public to disregard such reports.

Saka emphasized that Muhammed considers the appointment a call to serve Nigeria and holds President Tinubu's administration in high regard.
