The Guild of Corporate Online Publishers (GOCOP) has announced that Chief Samuel Ortom, former Governor of Benue State, will serve as one of the panelists at the upcoming GOCOP 2025 Conference.

The conference theme is "Reconciling Campaign Promises with Governance Realities: Challenges and Prospects."

No fewer than Two hundred stakeholders from across the country would be in Abuja next week to discuss the need for a principal Data Protection Law in Nigeria.

The two-day event, scheduled to hold on 26th and 27th of July, 2022 at Rockview Hotel Royale, Abuja, shall bring together representatives of relevant public institutions, the private sector and civil society organisations to deliberate on the way forward towards strengthening the legal framework for data protection in the country.

Enelamah to lead discussion on ‘The Nigeria Dream Beyond Oil’

The Honourable Minister for Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Okechukwu Enelamah is expected to lead discussion at The Redeemer, Region 19 Men’s Conference, with the theme: The Nigeria Dream Beyond Oil, holding at RCCG Dominion Sanctuary, Plot 1, Acme Road, Ogba-Ikeja, Lagos on Saturday May 12, 2018, reports ITRealms.

Speaking ahead of the maiden Regional Men’s Conference, Pastor Brown Oyitso, who is the Pastor in Charge of the Region, explained that the idea is to get the church involved in setting agenda for national development.

According to him, our vision is to ‘raise distinct men of excellence and impact by not only creating the right platform for engagement but at the same time setting the agenda for positive engagement that will impact on the lives of our members and the country at large’.

Among other distinguished speakers expected at the Conference are Mr. Kayode Pitan, Managing Director, Bank of Industry and Mr. Opeyemi Agbaje, CEO, Resources and Trust Company (RTC) Advisory Services Ltd.

On what to expect at the event, the Regional Men's Coordinator, Pastor Amos Emovon, who is also a Pastor in Charge of Province, noted that for an economy that has depended majorly on revenues from oil, there is no better time than now to discuss alternative investment opportunities in the country. This becomes more imperative with the decreasing fortune of oil in the global market.

According to him, "Participants in this year’s edition of the Conference will be exposed to opportunities in other sectors of the Nigerian Economy beyond oil. There will be breakout sessions on Agriculture, Real Estate, Energy, SME and Information Technology among others. The breakout sessions will be handled by Prof. Sonaiya, Mr. Tonye Cole, Mr. Jide Arowosafe etc."

The RMF Region 19 Conference is expected to become an annual gathering of men representing all RCCG Provinces under the Region. It is designed as an annual platform for empowerment and networking.

Etisalat pullout: EMTS, Etisalat group in brand-use discussion

The Emerging Markets Telecommunication Services (EMTS) Limited, trading as Etisalat Nigeria has said it has entered high-level discussion with the Etisalat Group on the use of the brand in Nigeria in spite of its pull-out of the business, reports ITRealms.

The Vice President, Regulatory and Corporate Affairs at Etisalat Nigeria, Mr. Ibrahim Dikko, while reacting on reported withdrawal of Etisalat Group and the right to the continued use of the Etisalat brand in Nigeria by EMTS.

According to him, EMTS has a valid and subsisting agreement with the Etisalat Group, which entitles EMTS to use the Etisalat brand, notwithstanding the recent changes within the company.

He confirmed to ITRealms that EMTS is in discussion with Etisalat Group over the continued use of the brand in Nigeria.

“Indeed, discussions are ongoing between EMTS and Etisalat Group pertaining to the continued use of the brand, and EMTS will issue a formal statement once discussions are concluded,” he said.

Dikko pointed out that the final outcome on the use of the brand would in no way affect the operations of the business at full range of services remain available to ‘Etisalat’ customers in Nigeria.

He recalled some of the brand repositioning by EMTS since its launch in Nigeria nine years ago, which include but not limited to “0809ja” to affirm the “Nigerianness” of our origin and sphere of influence.

“In our 9 years of operation, we have remained a prime driver and avid supporter of the Nigerian spirit of excellence, and we will continue to stay true to our “Naijacentric identity” he said.

This notion, Dikko said, is strongly reflected in the telco core messages and depicted in major projects and initiatives which we have been known to support.

“All these initiatives have their foundation embedded in supporting key aspects of the Nigerian fabric: building Nigerian businesses and empowering Nigerian’s with a focus on the youth,” he said.

The VP Dikko maintained that Nigeria remains the soul of EMTS’ business and EMTS has made the brand alluring to teeming subscribers who see a piece of the spirit and character of Nigeria in everything the company do.
