The Executive Vice Chairman (EVC) of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Dr. Aminu Maida, has urged national and sub-national stakeholders to align policies and actions that promote broadband investment and safeguard Nigeria’s critical digital infrastructure, warning that “the cost of inaction is too high for the nation’s future.”
The Executive Vice Chairman (EVC) of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Dr. Aminu Maida, has urged national and sub-national stakeholders to align policies and actions that promote broadband investment and safeguard Nigeria’s critical digital infrastructure, warning that “the cost of inaction is too high for the nation’s future.”
Dr. Maida made the call while delivering his remarks at the Business Roundtable on Improving Investments in Broadband Connectivity and Safeguarding Critical National Infrastructure, held at the NCC Digital Economy Complex, Mbora, on October 8, 2025, with the theme: “Right of Way and Protection of Broadband Infrastructure – The Road to Success in Broadband Investment and Connectivity.”

The nutrition stakeholders in the Lagos State, have demanded for the fast-tracking of transfer for counterpart funding to facilitate timely release of the Multiple Micronutrition Supplement (MMS) and other nutritional aided medication to requisite health facilities in the state, reports ITREALMS.

This demand was made at a day policy dialogue on the MMS by the Lagos State Committee on Food and Nutrition in collaboration with Civil Society – Scaling Up Nutrition in Nigeria (CS-SUNN) which brought together a diverse group of participants, including the Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget, government officials, representatives from civil society organizations, nutrition partners (Alive and Thrive, Nutrition International), healthcare professionals, media, representatives, and other key stakeholders.

This request for inputs, according to the Executive Vice Chairman of NCC, Dr. Aminu Maida, in Lagos, is in line with the International Mobile Telecommunications (MT) requirements.

Stakeholders in the telecommunications industry have said the Federal Government’s plan to deploy 90,000 kilometers of fibre optic cables across the country will face several obstacles, especially from state governments, that might truncate the project.
Stakeholders in the telecommunications industry have said the Federal Government’s plan to deploy 90,000 kilometers of fibre optic cables across the country will face several obstacles, especially from state governments, that might truncate the project.
According to them, without addressing the current issue of Right of Way charges, multiple taxation, and levies, which are under the control of state governments, the project which is to be implemented through a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) would be an exercise in futility.
