Shell commends Oloibiri Lecture Series as platform for change - ITREALMS
ITREALMS ... making leadership SENSE with digital news!
One of the sponsors of the Oloibiri Lecture Series and Energy Forum (OLEF), the Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company Ltd (SNEPCo,) has commended OLEF for driving change in Nigeria’s energy sector through discussions that centre on business performance, cost discipline and process simplification, reports ITREALMS.“This event is special to the Shell brand, not only because of the nostalgia of Oloibiri but the quality of discourse it has enabled in our sector over the years,” SNEPCO Managing Director Ronald Adams said in a goodwill speech delivered by General Manager, Wells and Geosciences Operations Joe Mordi. He said: “We are grateful to the Society of Petroleum Engineers and our host the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) for another successful outing.”
Organised by the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Nigeria Council, the Oloibiri Lecture Series and Energy Forum began in 1991, in commemoration of the country’s first commercial oil discovery by Shell at Oloibiri, Bayelsa State, in 1956. Ronald said recent developments in the Upstream and Downstream sectors of the energy industry, including the $5-billion final investment decision by Shell in the Bonga North Deepwater project echoed the sentiments around the first oil discovery.
“These strides come with a commitment to excellence required of us – for stakeholders, colleagues, our country and indeed, future generations. The theme for this year ‘Driving energy sustainability through technology, policy and supply chain excellence’ reflects this commitment. The future is bright, and we have the opportunity to co-create it.”

Realnews, a general interest magazine, is an online publication that thrives on investigative journalism. We have expertise in reporting the oil and gas sector with its attendant environmental challenges. We aim to unearth exclusive stories about real people and the challenges they face in their day-to-day activities. We do this bearing in mind that government can only act to influence the lives of people positively if they are aware of their true situation. Hence, our objective is to use our investigative skills to ferret out information in the sectors we focus on and produce an unbiased report that will actually influence the government and decision-makers to take actions that will make society better.
Realnews is populated by seasoned journalists who believe strongly in the tenets and ethics of the profession. The online publication believes that journalism as the fourth Estate of the Realm can contribute its quota towards building a fair and just society where fundamental human rights are respected and citizens have the freedom to pursue their interests anywhere in the world without hindrance. Its editors have a combined experience of several decades in active journalism practice and are highly dedicated to serving humanity, hence its motto: “For God and Humanity.”

Anti-Igbo narratives: FOSAD berates Prof Ahmed Bako's inaugural lecture @UDUS - ITREALMS
ITREALMS ... making leadership SENSE with digital news!
The Forum of Southeast Academic Doctors (FOSAD) has berated supposed professor of history, Ahmed Bako, over his largely misrepresentation of facts during the 50th inaugural lecture, entitled "The Igbo Factor in the History of Intergroup Relations and Commerce in Kano: Opportunities and Challenges Revisited," delivered recently at the Usmanu Danfodio University, Sokoto (UDUS), reports ITREALMS.According to FOSAD President and Secretary General, Dr Stephen Nwala and Dr Uzor Ngoladi, respectively, in a press statement available to ITREALMS as endorsed by Research & Documentation Team of the group made up of Dr Chudi Okoye, Dr Marcel Mbamalu and Dr Chris Belonwu, Professor Bako largely misrepresented historical facts at various points in his lecture, and also engaged in typical Igbo profiling, teasing a xenophobic position that negates the integrative spirit of the Nigerian constitution.

Prof. Bako and embarrassing totemic lecture by Prof. Chidi Odinkalu - ITREALMS
Commentary@ITREALMS ... making leadership SENSE with digital news!
To all those who have offered up views on Prof Bako's Inaugural Lecture, I am Chidi Anselm Odinkalu.I was honestly minded to un-look after reading it twice for reasons that will follow shortly. But given the depth of your effort, I want to offer a limited and deliberately narrow complement. For a relatively short-ish Inaugural Lecture delivered on the eve of retirement after nearly 45 years teaching and researching Nigerian history, this text is riddled with distressing errors of text, context, sub-text, and texture.
