The Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE) is set to host the 3rd Lateef Jakande Memorial Lecture, scheduled to take place on July 23, 2025 in the city of Lagos, reports ITREALMS.
The Standing Committee of NGE, in a notice to members endorsed by the secretary general, Mr. Onuoha Ukeh, affirmed the 3rd Lateef Jakande Memorial Lecture, scheduled to take place on July 23, 2025.
"The event will be held at the EDMARK D'Podium International Event Centre, 31B Aromire Street by Adeniyi Jones, Ikeja, Lagos, starting at 11am," he said.
This year's lecture theme, he said, is "Journalism and the Challenge of Nation Building in Multi-ethnic Society."
Official also said, the theme is particularly relevant in today's Nigeria, where the media plays a crucial role in shaping public opinion and influencing national discourse.
Renowned speaker, His Excellency, Senator Bala Mohammed, Governor of Bauchi State, will deliver the lecture, bringing his wealth of experience and expertise to the discussion.
He will be joined by His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun, Governor of Ogun State, who will serve as Chairman.
The NGE Secretary General, equally extended invitation to all members to attend and participate in this significant event.
"Members in Lagos are particularly encouraged to come in large numbers, as this is an opportunity to engage with fellow professionals and contribute to the discussion on the role of journalism in nation-building," he said.
The Lateef Jakande Memorial Lecture has become a flagship event for the NGE, providing a platform for thought leaders and stakeholders to come together and discuss pressing issues affecting the nation.
