According to her, Dr. Lemo, who is an active and prominent stakeholder on the Penpushing platform, will oversee the proceedings of the ceremony and deliver the chairman's opening remarks.
In his response to the formal invitation, the veteran banker and financial expert commended the editorial board and planning committee of Penpushing Media, owners of the online newspaper and television network, for their strategic foresight, professional consistency, and growing relevance within the African media ecosystem.
Dr. Tunde Lemo boasts a distinguished career spanning banking, public policy, and national infrastructure development. A stellar alumnus of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), he graduated with First Class Honours in Accounting in 1984.
He began his professional career at Arthur Andersen & Co. in 1985. By 1997, he had achieved the status of Fellow of both the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) and the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN). He later served as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Wema Bank Plc from 2000 to 2003.
His structural contributions to national development include:
Central Bank Leadership: Appointed in 2003 as CBN Deputy Governor, he drove the historic banking sector consolidation that aggressively scaled minimum capital requirements from ₦2 billion to ₦25 billion, midwiving the emergence of globally competitive Nigerian mega-banks.
Payment Systems Modernisation: He spearheaded the modernization of Nigeria's e-payment infrastructure, drove the rapid deployment of electronic banking protocols, and formulated the national Microfinance Policy and Supervisory Framework.
Institutional Restructuring: He served as Director and Chairman of the Abuja Securities and Commodity Exchange Plc, led the restructuring of the Nigerian Export-Import Bank (NEXIM), and acted as a Non-Executive Director of the Africa Finance Corporation (AFC).
Public Infrastructure & Corporate Governance: In 2018, he was appointed Chairman of the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA). Today, as the former Chairman of the Boards of Titan Trust Bank and Flutterwave, he continues to lend his executive expertise to several tier-one corporate boards.
In recognition of his immense contributions to the nation’s financial architecture, the Federal Government of Nigeria honored him with the prestigious National Honour of Officer of the Federal Republic (OFR) in 2011.
Beyond the boardroom, Dr. Lemo is an ordained Reverend with the Foursquare Gospel Church, having been consecrated as a Minister in 2008. He is a passionate church planter and the visionary founder of the Success Academy for Financial Literacy, an initiative dedicated to grassroot economic empowerment.
