Acclaimed entrepreneur and philanthropist, Dr. Tunji Olowolafe, has inaugurated two landmark projects in Are-Ekiti, namely the Gbemisola Olowolafe Memorial (GOM) ICT Centre and the GOM Community Secondary School (GOMCSS), designed to transform education and digital empowerment in Nigeria, reports ITREALMS.
The GOM ICT Centre, a 40-seater digital hub with high-speed internet, uninterrupted power supply, and 24-hour security, is envisioned as the pilot of a broader network of world-class technology centres across Nigeria and Africa. Its curriculum spans frontier technologies including Artificial Intelligence (AI), Blockchain, and Quantum Computing, alongside practical training in IT support, cybersecurity, UX design, data analytics, project management, and digital marketing.
“Our learners will not only be computer literate but will graduate with specialized skills and globally recognized certifications to thrive in today’s digital economy,” Dr. Olowolafe noted. Each participant will also be issued a lifelong digital identity to track their progress and measure long-term impact.
Adjacent to the ICT hub is the GOM Community Secondary School, a modern learning facility equipped with state-of-the-art classrooms, broadband internet, and sports amenities. The school has been formally handed over to the Ekiti State Ministry of Education to serve the community.
According to the centre’s prospectus, learners will benefit from Google-certified courses, blockchain and AI agent certifications, as well as job-readiness programs such as CV workshops, interview training, and internship placements. Teachers will equally access professional development opportunities supported by international partners, including the Commonwealth Education Trust and Google for Education.
“These projects are about more than technology; they are about proving that Nigerian youth can achieve world-class outcomes from home, irrespective of their background,” Olowolafe emphasized.
A trained medical doctor turned construction entrepreneur, Dr. Olowolafe currently serves as Chairman of Deux Project Limited.
His late wife, Mrs. Gbemisola Olowolafe, is fondly remembered as a woman of “extraordinary strength, wisdom, and compassion,” and a steadfast partner in his journey of philanthropy and nation-building. “She was my rock, my partner, and my best friend,” Dr. Olowolafe said, describing the projects as a living tribute to her enduring legacy of service and empowerment.
