In recognition of the pivotal role played by the Governance Advisory Council (GAC) in shaping political stability and governance in Lagos State since the era of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as governor, renowned political journalist and publisher of August24news.com, Ajagbe Adeyemi Teslim, on Tuesday presented a specially designed GAC frame to the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. (Dr) Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa, reports ITREALMS.
The frame also included a tribute segment honouring eight departed members of the council, thereby preserving their legacies for future generations.
The 35 living members whose portraits and details were displayed include President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, former governors Babatunde Raji Fashola and Akinwunmi Ambode, Prince Tajudeen Oluyole Olusi who chairs the council, Alhaji Bushura Alebiosu, Prince Rabiu Adio Oluwa, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, Alhaji Shakira Akanbi Seriki, Chief M.A. Taiwo, Senator Idiat Oluranti Adebule, Hon. Wale Edun, Speaker Mudashiru Obasa himself, Senator Anthony Adefuye, Alhaji Mutiu Are who serves as secretary of the council, Deputy Governor Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, Rt. Hon. Sabit Adeyemi Ikuforiji, Senator Ganiu Solomon, Senator Adeseye Ogunlewe, Chief Abiodun Ogunlewe, Otunba Henry Ajomale, Dr. Abayomi Finnih, Omooba Murphy Adetoro, Senator Tokunbo Abiru, Hon. Cornelius Ojelabi, Alhaji Tunde Balogun, Cardinal James Odunbaku, Chief (Mrs.) Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Bashorun, Omooba Olumuyiwa Sosanya, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, Princess Sarah Sosan, Chief Femi Pedro and Hon. Jumoke Okoya-Thomas.
The tribute section immortalises eight late members of the council: Chief (Mrs.) Kemi Nelson, Hon. R.F. Balogun, Ambassador Rasak Seriki, Oba Olatunji Hamzat, Alhaji Safiriyulahi Sumola, Chief Lanre Rasak, Prof. Tunde Samuel and Chief Sunny Ajose.
Explaining the motivation behind the project, Mr. Teslim said the frame was conceived as a product of in-depth editorial research aimed at promoting unity and celebrating the contributions of what he described as the “35 wise men and women” of the GAC.

He added that the initiative was also intended to inspire other political leaders in Lagos to remain dedicated to service and good governance, while ensuring that the history of Lagos politics is preserved and rebranded for posterity.
“We created this frame to honour their legacy and showcase the unity that has sustained governance in Lagos. It is also a way of rebranding and promoting the history of our state’s politics,” he said, noting that similar presentations will be made to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Deputy Governor Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, commissioners, lawmakers, council chairmen and other party leaders across the state.
Receiving the frame, Speaker Obasa commended August24news.com for what he described as a creative and historic documentation of Lagos’ political leadership.
“We created this frame to honour their legacy and showcase the unity that has sustained governance in Lagos. It is also a way of rebranding and promoting the history of our state’s politics,” he said, noting that similar presentations will be made to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Deputy Governor Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, commissioners, lawmakers, council chairmen and other party leaders across the state.
