ITREALMS ... making leadership SENSE with digital news!

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has approved the promotion of 471 junior staff across the country, reaffirming its commitment to merit-based career progression and staff welfare, reports ITREALMS.
The decision was taken at the Commission’s regular weekly meeting held on Thursday, September 25, 2025, chaired by INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu.

The meeting also reviewed ongoing preparations for the forthcoming Anambra State Governorship Election, the FCT Area Council elections, as well as party primaries ahead of the Ekiti and Osun Governorship elections.

According to a statement signed by Sam Olumekun, National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, the promotions were recommended by the Appointment, Promotion and Disciplinary Committee (APDC) and aligned with the Commission’s Conditions of Service.

Out of 515 staff shortlisted for consideration, 214 were promoted to Grade Level 07, 134 to Grade Level 06, 106 to Grade Level 05, and 17 to Grade Level 04. This exercise concludes the first phase of promotions for 2025, with the process for senior staff promotion already underway.

INEC emphasized that staff promotion remains a routine but essential exercise to boost morale, reward performance, and strengthen its institutional capacity for managing elections.

“The Commission remains committed to regular, merit-based promotion and the welfare of its staff. We urge all personnel to rededicate themselves to service, particularly in the conduct of elections and related activities,” Olumekun stated.
