The global conversation on the future of mobile networks is set to intensify as the Director of Mobile Competence Centre, at European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI), Mirko Cano Soveri, prepares to deliver a keynote on the evolving standardization roadmap for 6G at the RCR Wireless News 6G Forum, scheduled for October 7, 2025, reports ITREALMS.
The virtual forum, supported by the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI), will gather global experts to discuss how 6G will move from vision to deployment, focusing on areas such as sensing capabilities, infrastructure cost modelling, policy frameworks, streamlined standards, and rollout timelines.
Cano Soveri is expected to provide a critical update on how the 6G standardization process is being shaped, highlighting ETSI’s role in coordinating global efforts to align technical specifications with market needs.
His session titled “Standardization Roadmap Update” will outline milestones already achieved and set out the next phases required to ensure interoperability and scalability of 6G systems.
In addition to his keynote, Cano Soveri will participate in a high-level panel discussion, “What Should 6G Standards Actually Enable?”, where experts will debate the priorities that future standards must deliver, from ultra-reliable connectivity and integrated sensing to greener, cost-efficient infrastructure and new industrial use cases.
Industry stakeholders see the forum as a timely platform to assess progress and identify gaps, especially as countries and operators begin early trials and academic research intensifies around the 6G vision.
Registration for the 6G Forum is currently open, with organisers urging telecom leaders, policymakers, researchers, and technology developers to join the October 7 conversation shaping the next decade of connectivity.
