The Igbo Youth Leaders and Stakeholders Assembly has issued a strong rebuttal following viral social media reports claiming that the President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Senator John Mbata, called for armed mobilization among Igbo men, reports ITREALMS.
In a formal statement released on Sunday, February 8, 2026, and available to ITREALMS, the assembly dismissed the allegations as malicious propaganda and "fake news" specifically designed to blackmail the leadership of the apex Igbo socio-cultural organization and destabilize the South-East region.
In recognition of the pivotal role played by the Governance Advisory Council (GAC) in shaping political stability and governance in Lagos State since the era of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as governor, renowned political journalist and publisher of August24news.com, Ajagbe Adeyemi Teslim, on Tuesday presented a specially designed GAC frame to the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. (Dr) Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa, reports ITREALMS.
The presentation took place at the Speaker’s office in Ikeja, Lagos, with the frame showcasing the names, photographs, local government areas and senatorial districts of all 35 distinguished members of the GAC; the state’s highest political decision-making body.
