The Federal Government has declared Tuesday, July 15, 2025, a public holiday to honor the late former President Muhammadu Buhari, reports ITREALMS. 

This declaration, ITREALMS gathered, is part of a seven-day national mourning period announced by President Bola Tinubu, which began on Sunday, July 13, 2025.

The public holiday is a mark of respect for the late president's service to the nation, his contributions to Nigeria's democratic journey, and his enduring legacy in governance and national development.

Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, stated that the holiday provides an opportunity for all Nigerians to reflect on the late president's life, leadership, and the values he upheld.

The minister urged citizens to use the day to promote peace, patriotism, and national cohesion, reflecting the late president's values and vision for a united Nigeria.

In addition, he said, the national flags will fly at half-mast for the duration of the mourning period, as a mark of respect for the late president.

The Federal Government extends its deepest condolences to the family of the late president, the people of Katsina State, and all Nigerians, while praying for the peaceful repose of his soul.
