Discussions were centered on mutual economic growth, prosperity, security, and migration, whereas Lord Collins reaffirmed the UK Government's commitment to strengthening trade and investment ties.

During his visit, Lord Collins met with senior Nigerian officials, business leaders, civil society representatives, and UN agencies. These engagements highlighted the UK's support for Nigeria's prosperity and stability, as well as bilateral cooperation for transformative growth.

A key highlight, ITREALMS gathered, was his meeting with Nigeria's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, where both reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening economic ties and regional security, in the company of the UK’s Trade Envoy to Nigeria, Florence Eshalomi, MP.

Also, Lord Collins met with the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Benjamin Kalu, to discuss parliamentary engagement and women's participation in politics.

"Nigeria and the UK share a rich, ambitious relationship rooted in respect," said Lord Collins, stressing that his visit focused on deepening cooperation on trade and investment to drive economic growth and deliver prosperity.

Discussions with UN representatives focused on UN system reforms and support for those in need, particularly in Northeast Nigeria. Lord Collins met with civil society leaders to discuss electoral integrity and governance reforms and visited Nigeria’s Anti-Kidnap Fusion Cell, a security initiative supported by UK expertise.

British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Dr. Richard Montgomery, stated, "Lord Collins’ visit underscores the UK’s commitment to deepening shared prosperity through trade and investment. We are proud to stand alongside Nigeria as it forges a resilient and dynamic economy.”

The visit emphasized the enduring UK-Nigeria partnership based on mutual respect, shared goals, and a vision for a prosperous future.
