The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr. Olayemi Cardoso, has been honoured at the inaugural Nairametrics Capital Market Choice Awards on May 23, 2025, reports ITREALMS.
Furthermore, the CBN was recognized with the "Market Reform Initiative of the Year" award, acknowledging its ongoing efforts to drive systemic reforms and innovation within the financial ecosystem. The CBN's recent policy interventions focused on enhancing monetary transparency, investor confidence, and financial market stability led to this recognition.
Dr. Olubukola Akinwunmi, the CBN's Director of Banking Supervision Department, accepted the award on behalf of Governor Cardoso and the CBN, thanking Nairametrics and encouraging stakeholders to pursue transparency for financial system stability.
Other notable Honorary Award recipients included Lagos State Governor Mr. Babajide Sanwo-olu, Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, SEC Director General Dr. Emomotimi Agama, and President of Capital Market Academics of Nigeria Professor Uche Uwaleke.
Posthumous awards honored the late Chief Akintola Williams, Chief Subomi Balogun, and Engr. (Mrs.) Florence Seriki, Managing Director, Omatek Computers Plc.
The event featured 25 award categories and brought together leaders in the financial services sector to celebrate excellence and innovation in Nigeria’s capital market.
