The Lagos State Chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has elected a new executive council at the close of its flagship Lagos PR Fest 2025, reinforcing its commitment to professionalism, innovation, and societal impact.

In elections supervised by NIPR Registrar, Chief Uzoma Onyegbadue, Dr. Samuel Ayetutu emerged as Chairman, while Mrs Eniola Mayowa was elected Vice Chairperson.

The Nigeria Internet Registration Association (NiRA) has successfully concluded its 17th Annual General Meeting (AGM), marking a significant stride in fortifying Nigeria's digital identity with the election of the some new members of the Executive Board of Directors, reports ITREALMS.

This year's hybrid event, held at the NiRA Secretariat and virtually via Zoom, saw over 325 members, stakeholders, and media convening to review a period of transformative growth.

The members of the registry for .ng country code Top Level Domain (ccTLD), Nigeria Internet Registration Association (NiRA), have elected Messrs Adesola Akinsanya and Murtala Abdullahi as the new President and Vice President, respectively, reports ITREALMS.

Both were elected on Friday April 28, 2023, during NiRA’s 15th Annual General Meeting (AGM) held at “The Zone” Gbagada, Lagos State, alongside Messrs Ebenezer Dare, Seun Kehinde and Peter Oluka as members of the EBoD.

ReapVille School hosts special assembly, elects PTA Exco - ITREALMS

ReapVille School, Oshodi-Lagos, has elected the pioneer Executive Committee for its Parents-Teachers Association (PTA) with Mrs. Nkem Nweke emerging as the chairperson, reports ITREALMS.

They were elected at a recent PTA meeting following a special assembly session held in the school premises by the pupils.

Mrs Nweke would be joined in the PTA Exco by Mr Kazeem Akinpelu - Vice Chairperson, Mrs Udeme Akpan Umoh - Financial Secretary, Mrs Udeme Akpan Umoh - Financial Secretary, Mrs Ngozi Nzeh M – Treasurer, and Mrs Chinyere Fred-Alabi as the Public Relations Officer (PRO).

In her acceptance speech, Mrs. Nweke promised on behalf of her team to do their best towards contributing to the upliftment of ReapVille schools, especially the well-being of the pupils and teachers welfare.

She expressed thanks to other parents and teachers in the trust they have on the new PTA Executive Committee.

The Director and proprietress, ReapVille Schools, Mrs. Philomena Ugwuoke commended the PTA committee for accepting to serve in this capacity, hoping that ReapVille schools intend to benefit from their anticipated contributions in keeping to the standards of the school.

Reapville School, she said, is committed to provide pupils with an education that is unique based on their collaborative learning, extra curricula activity and supportive learning environment which foster independence, strength of character and a lifelong pursuit of knowledge.

And based on their culture, Reapville School, Ugwuoke pointed out is dedicated to develop an inclusive child education driven by technology, passionate and well-motivated staff and active parent participation.

“We believe every child will learn and flourish with the support of a committed team; touching the psychological, cognitive, spiritual and social development of the child,” she said.

In addition, Ugwuoke noted that their curriculum challenges and help students reason analytically, think creatively and argue critically.

“We offer our pupils the best in early childhood education within a friendly and caring environment,” she said, stressing that focus on character development and effective learning through interaction, differentiated methods and other unique psychological tested and approved method of teaching and learning for the benefit of the learner.

ISOC Nigeria elects Dewole Ajao, president, six others

The Internet Society (ISOC) Nigeria Chapter has elected Mr. Adewole  Ajao, as its president for the next two years, reports ITRealms.

According to Mr. Wale Adedokun of ISOC Nigeria Chapter Election Committee, the winners emerged after obtaining a majority of votes for the various positions.

He also announced that Mr. Ajao would be joined in the ISOC exco by Prince  Iniobong Eka as the Vice President; Auwal Alhassan Tata as the Secretary General, Mary-Jane Sule, Treasurer; Fawole Bukola as the Financial Secretary, and Ogundele Olumuyiwa Caleb who was elected as the Programme Secretary as well as Akinbo Adebunmi Adeola, who emerged the Public Relation Officer.

While congratulating all the elected candidates, Adedokun also extended ‘a very big thank you to all the other candidates,” describing it as a worthwhile exercise.

ACSIS-SCASI elects Cisse Kane, eight others into exco for 2016-2020

The African Civil Society on the Information Society (ACSIS) has elected a set of new nine executive officers for the next four years, the under leadership of Dr. Cisse Kane, reports ITRealms.

A press statement from ACSIS secretariat, the new executive committee was elected by accredited 175 members for 2016 through 2020 tenure.

According to the chairperson of the ACSIS 2016 Electoral Committee, and former president of ACSIS, Nana Delphine Mekounte, the electoral process which lasted for three days online enabled members across the African continent to exercise their civic rights.

She disclosed that the election saw the emergence of Dr. Cisse Kane (Senegal) as President, Mr. Remmy Nweke (Nigeria) as Vice President; Adjidjatou Barry Baud (Guinea) - Treasurer; Mr. Akinremi Peter Taiwo – Coordinator West Africa; Tijani Mahamat Adoum (Chad) - Coordinator Central Africa; Evelyn Namara (Uganda) - Coordinator Eastern Africa; Christminfa Gbenou Sagbohan (Benin) - Coordinator African Diaspora; Aicha Jeridi (Tunisia) - Coordinator Northern Africa; and Chenai Chair (Zimbabwe) - Coordinator Southern Africa.

Mekounte also commended the sincerity of purpose, patience and cooperation throughout the electoral process by members.

“Thank you for your choice of leaders for the next 4 years, this is a citizen's duty,” she asserted, advising any member who may be in doubt to revisit their online ballot link earlier shared to see for themselves how and records of the exercise.

As said by her, 175 voters were registered for the 2016 election, while the actual number of vote cast was 78, which amounts to 45 per cent participation. She noted that earlier, majority of voters had agreed that the single candidate positions should not be placed in competition, which the Electoral Committee endorsed.

Hence she explained that the Committee placed in contest the post of the Vice President and Treasurers, which had two and three candidates respectively.

She further said that for the post of Vice President, were Mr. Remmy Nweke and Mr. Michel Tchonang Linze, while the Treasurer position had Ms. Addjidja Tou Barry Baud, Mr. Ade Bada and Ms Sende Dora.

At the end, she said, Mr. Nweke was elected with 49 votes against 25 votes by Linze, just as Addjidja got 45 votes to emerge the Treasurer.

Recall that Africa Civil Society for the Information Society (ACSIS) was formed in June 2003, during the first phase of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) in Geneva, to promote inclusive information society in Africa.

ASA-Dallas elects Ray Okoye, president

The Anambra State Association (ASA) branch in Dallas Forth-Worth (ASA-DFW) has elected Chief Ray Okoye as its new president, reports ITRealms.

Board Chairman, ASA-United State of America (USA) Dr. Chris Ikeanyi, disclosed this at the weekend to ITRealms, commended the election.

“ASA-DFW has elected a very good man in the person of Chief Ray Okoye to lead our great affiliate in Dallas,” he declared.

He also alleged that this came after two years of destructive leadership in ASA-DFW.

“… Finally, a peaceful leadership has emerged and the association that played a vital role in the formation of ASA-USA will now begin to thrive as it once did in the past when it was led by the likes of Engr. Paul Iwuchukwu and Dr. Joe Udeozoh,” he said.

Okenyi, therefore, extended a resounding congratulation to Chief Ray Okoye, as the new President of ASA-DFW.

ITRealms gathered that the election which took place on Saturday night saw the defeat of the incumbent Engr. Nnaerika Okonkwo.

An eye witness, Sir Charles Maduka told ITRealms that the election result sent “a shocking chill to the spines of members as nobody gave the unknown Ray a chance.”

He joined other well-meaning ASA-USA members to congratulate Chief Ray Okoye on his emergence.
