The much-anticipated Omabala Cultural Day Celebration, held on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at the Otuocha Township Stadium, has come and gone. To God be all the glory for an eventful, colourful, and peaceful exhibition of our rich cultural heritage. The rain that fell on the penultimate night, rather than dampen expectations, turned out to be a divine blessing. The following morning ushered in bright sunshine and clement weather - a perfect atmosphere for what became a memorable outing.
Attendance was highly impressive, as people from the six Local Government Areas of Omabala land - Anambra East, Anambra West, Awka North, Ayamelum, Dunukofia, and Oyi - trooped to the venue in their numbers as early as 9 am. The festival grounds came alive with traditional dances, songs, masquerade displays, and exhibitions of farm produce, all showcasing the beauty, strength, and unity of the Omabala people.
The event featured outstanding performances by indigenous musical groups such as the Ideal Gospel Singers of the famous “Obi n’aso m rikpo,” the Young Stars Music Group of Umueri, and Nikky Brandy, among others, whose renditions thrilled the crowd and added colour to the celebration.
We sincerely appreciate the Chairman of Omabala Union, Dr. Chike Obidigbo, JP (Osisioma Igbo), whose visionary leadership made this historic event possible. Our gratitude also goes to the Chairman of the occasion, HRM Igwe Oranu Chris Chidume, MON (Eze Ana-Ukwu, Eze Igulube) Igwe Omor, for his creativity and grace in directing the proceedings of the day.
