The Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN) has declared a two-day public holidays to mark the 2023 Eid-El-Kabir, reports ITREALMS.The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Oluwatoyin Akinlade in a press statement available to ITREALMS said FG has approved Wednesday, June 28, and Thursday, June 29 as public holidays.

FG extends Eid-il-Fitri holidays till Thursday
The Federal Government has extended the Eid-il-Fitri holiday earlier
declared for Tuesday 5th to Wednesday 6th and Thursday 7th July, 2016, ITRealms

This follows a directive by the President General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, the Sultan of Sokoto, giving non-sighting of moon.
To this effect, the Ramadan fast continues Tuesday as a result of the non-sighting of the moon.
A statement by Bassey Okon Akpanyung, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, and made available to ITRealms, showed that in making the declaration on behalf of the Federal Government, the Minister of Interior, Lt Gen. (Rtd) Abdulrahman Bello Dambazau, called for unity.
He also enjoined Nigerians to use this period of sober reflections to ensure harmony, unity and peaceful co-existence, whereas giving full support to the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari in his sustained effort to pursue socio-economic and political growth of the nation.
