Former President of the Institute of Software Practitioners of Nigeria (ISPON), Chief Chris Uwaje, has paid a profound tribute to the late Professor Gabriel Olalere Ajayi, hailing him as a "true cerebral digital enigma" whose vision was instrumental in institutionalizing Nigeria's National IT policy, reports ITREALMS.
Delivering a testimonial address under the theme "History Has Room for All of Us," Chief Uwaje emphasized the need to fully acknowledge and incorporate the diverse, often overlooked contributions of pioneers like Professor Ajayi who were "at the line of fire but conquered all inferno along the path of historical success."
Chief Uwaje described Professor Ajayi's drive to establish the foundational IT policy for Nigeria—and by extension, for Africa, as an "incredible mission" and an "obsession."
He argued that history often prioritizes dominant narratives, regrettably overlooking the profound experiences and achievements of individuals and groups whose voices matter.
"Exploring the theme of my intervention on 'History Has Room for All of Us' acknowledges the vast and diverse contributions of individuals and groups throughout time, emphasizing the importance of inclusivity and representation in historical narratives," Chief Uwaje noted.

Highlighting Professor Ajayi's leadership style, Chief Uwaje recalled that the late scholar represented an "incredible master of inclusive leadership approach that conjures a Merit-first Philosophy."
