During a courtesy visit to the Command Headquarters in Abeokuta on November 27, 2025, ALTON Chairman Adebayo commended the NSCDC’s professionalism, rapid response mechanisms, and strategic intelligence operations.
Adebayo was quoted in a press statement available to ITREALMS by ALTO Publicity Secretary by Sir. Damian Udeh, saying that highlighted a critical achievement: Ogun State currently records the lowest incidents of vandalization, fiber cuts, and damages to telecom installations nationwide.
The ALTON Chairman attributed this success directly to the commitment and strategic leadership of the State Commandant, Commandant Remilekun Omolade Ekundayo, MLCJ, IION, and her dedicated personnel.
“The results we are seeing in Ogun State are not by accident. They reflect the dedication, discipline, and strategic leadership of Commandant Remilekun Omolade Ekundayo,” the ALTON Chairman stated. “We appreciate the outstanding work she and her team continue to do in securing the nation's digital backbone.”
The collaboration between the NSCDC and ALTON extends beyond crisis response. Adebayo expressed gratitude for the Corps’ full support of ALTON’s Telecommunications Tower Enumeration Project—a self-regulation initiative endorsed by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC).
He disclosed that enumerators have visited over 2,000 sites in Ogun State, helping identify a few abandoned legacy towers that pose public safety risks, which will be escalated to the NCC and state planning authorities.
Commandant Ekundayo reaffirmed the NSCDC’s statutory duty to protect Critical National Assets and Infrastructure (CNAI), describing telecommunications as “one of the most critical components of the nation’s socio-economic backbone,” essential for maintaining connectivity, economic growth, and emergency systems.
She emphasized that the Tower Enumeration Project is "timely, important, and necessary" for improved surveillance and risk mitigation.
In a significant appeal, the ALTON Chairman called on the Federal Government to provide the NSCDC with additional resources, including funding, equipment, and a minimum of 40,000 additional personnel to strengthen its capacity nationwide.
Adebayo stressed that despite limited resources, the NSCDC has demonstrated remarkable capability, and increased government support would enable the Corps to deliver even more effectively on its national mandate to protect vital infrastructure.
ALTON reaffirmed its commitment to sustained partnership with the NSCDC across the country to ensure reliable national connectivity and the continued protection of the infrastructure that powers Nigeria’s digital economy.
