Leading telecommunications service provider, Airtel Nigeria, has been recognized for its deep commitment to digital empowerment and national development, winning the coveted Best in Technology for Development award at the 2025 Sustainability, Enterprise and Responsibility Awards (SERAS) held in Lagos, reports ITREALMS.
A cornerstone of Airtel’s nomination was its long-standing investment in digital inclusion and tech talent development. This includes its robust support for the Federal Government’s Three Million Technical Talents (3MTT) initiative.
3MTT Sponsorship: Resulted in the training of 25,000 young Nigerians across 46 Local Government Areas, directly addressing the nation’s tech skill gap.
Reimagine Education (UNICEF Partnership): Connected 942,670 public school pupils in 1,268 schools to vital digital learning resources, bridging the educational technology divide.
Reacting to the award, Dr. Segun Ogunsanya, Chairman, Airtel Africa Foundation, reiterated the organisation’s dedication to leveraging technology for broad access and national development.
“This award strengthens our resolve to keep driving meaningful change through innovation and improved digital access for Africans. The SERAS, now in its 19th year, is renowned as Africa’s most consistent platform for recognizing excellence in corporate social responsibility and sustainability. This year’s ceremony brought together top organizations committed to improving lives, protecting the environment, and supporting national development.
SERAS Founder, Ken Egbas, applauded Airtel for championing sustainable development across the continent, noting the growing importance of corporate responsibility.
“This year’s record number of entries once again demonstrates just how far the sustainability movement has advanced across Africa... With leading organisations such as Airtel committing to not only doing the work but also telling the stories, the future looks even more promising,” Egbas said.
