NCS President swears in new exco, elders counsel unity, patience - ITREALMS

ITREALMS ... making leadership SENSE with digital news!

The Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) has inaugurated its new Executive Council (Exco), with a strong call from the President, Dr. Muhammad Sirajo Aliyu, for members to uphold their oath of office and dedicate themselves to the growth of the society and the advancement of Information Technology (IT) practice in the country, reports ITREALMS
Addressing members during the inauguration, the NCS President stressed the importance of openness to advice and collective contributions, noting that the diversity within the society remains its strength.

“Wisdom lies in our ability to harness our differences for collective progress,” he said, while commending the outgoing Exco for their years of service and urging the new leaders to build on their legacy.

Elders of the profession also weighed in with words of guidance, including the former NCS President, Dr. Chris Nwannenna, who pledged continued support for the leadership and recalled the landmark establishment of the NCS Secretariat in 2007, describing the current leadership’s recognition of past efforts as a sign of distinguished stewardship.

The Provost of the Computer Professionals Registration Council of Nigeria (CPN), Mrs. Veronica Ola Owolabi, cautioned that leadership must extend beyond the euphoria of electoral victory.

She advised the Exco to seek wisdom from their predecessors, gather adequate data before making decisions, and sustain cordial ties with past leaders for continuity.

Also, former NCS President, Alhaji Ladi Ogunneye, congratulated the team and urged them to work in harmony.

He warned against dragging the National Executive Council (NEC) into legal tussles, stressing that divergent opinions should be constructively managed in the spirit of unity.

“NCS was founded to bring all IT professionals under one umbrella,” he reminded them.

In his remarks, the President of the Institute of Software Practitioners of Nigeria (ISPON), Mr. Abioye Bimbo, celebrated the new team while calling for sustained support from members to enable effective delivery.

Similarly, the President of the Information Technology Systems and Security Professionals (ITSSP), Mr. Iyiola Ayoola, reminded the council that NCS continues to evolve and will inevitably face challenges.

Chairman of the NCS Board of Trustees, Chief Babatunde Ezichi, rounded off the advice by calling for greater unity among the new Exco.

He equally urged them to exercise what he termed “elastic patience” in the discharge of their duties, noting that leadership requires tolerance, inclusiveness, and teamwork.
