The family of Big Brother Naija Season 7 winner, Phyna, is mourning the loss of their beloved daughter and sister, Ruth Otabor, who passed away on Sunday, August 31, 2025, at approximately 6:30 a.m, reports ITREALMS.
According to a public statement released by Eko Solicitors & Advocates on behalf of the family, and sighted by ITREALMS, Ruth succumbed to complications from a tragic accident involving a Dangote Group truck near Auchi Polytechnic in Edo State on August 13, 2025.
Ruth, a recent graduate of Auchi Polytechnic, suffered severe injuries in the accident, including a crushed leg that required amputation.
ITREALMS gathered that despite undergoing surgery and treatment, she could not recover from the injuries.
Phyna, it was also gathered, had been vocal about seeking justice and accountability from the Dangote Group, alleging that they reneged on their promise to cover Ruth's medical expenses.
ITREALMS further gathered that the family has requested privacy as they grieve, stating, "The family is presently grieving and would appreciate being given a private moment to mourn the departed."
Just as the funeral arrangements will be communicated to the public in due course.
Meanwhile, the news of Ruth's passing has sparked an outpouring of grief and condolences from fans, celebrities, and fellow Big Brother Naija alumni.
Many have taken to social media to console Phyna and her family, while also calling for improved road safety measures and corporate accountability.
