The African Women in Media (AWiM) has announced Ethiopian Airlines as the exclusive airline and travel partner for this year's AWiM25 conference, scheduled to take place on December 4-5 at the African Union Commission in Addis Ababa, reports ITREALMSAccording to a press statement available to ITREALMS, AWiM CEO and Co-Founder, Dr. Yemisi Akinbobola, stated that the strategic partnership represents a shared commitment to enhance regional connectivity and create an enabling environment for African media professionals, academics, civil society organizations, and other related agencies to engage in critical policy conversations that shape the continent's media landscape.
Ethiopian Airlines is offering a 20% discount on travel to AWiM25 delegates, making it easier and more affordable for participants from across Africa and the diaspora to attend. Dr. Akinbobola emphasized that the partnership is a deliberate step towards promoting inclusivity, representation, and access in media dialogues, particularly for women.
"AWiM25 is a milestone moment for our continent, and we are proud to work with partners who share our vision of access, equity, and action," she said.
The vice president, Ethiopian Holiday & Digital/GCIC Sales, Mr. Hailemelekot Mamo, affirmed the airline's commitment to playing a key role in initiatives that bring positive change and growth to the continent.
"Our partnership with AWiM'25 empowers more people to take their place at the table, and we are proud to facilitate that presence by reducing logistical and financial barriers to travel," Mamo said.
The conference, themed "Beyond Commitments: Advancing Policies for Gender-Safe Media," will convene journalists, policymakers, academics, and civil society leaders from across the continent to co-develop frameworks and strategies for gender equity in media.
