Multi-Links Telkom has been voted the best broadband internet provider by the organizers of the Nigerian Information Technology and Telecommunications Awards (NITTA) 2009.
This development came as its parent company, Telkom South Africa has been recognized as the best new telecom investor of the year at the same event.
Affirming this, the Public Relations Manager at Multi-Links Telkom, Mr. Abiodun Bayo, said that the awards were received by the Chief Sales and Marketing Officer (CSMO), Mrs. Dipuo Msimang, was companied at the event by the Chief Corporate Affairs Officer, Mrs. Ijeoma Obazie.
According to him, subscribers’ preference for Multi-Links Telkom’s Internet service branded 3G Blue Broadband was justified at the 8th NITTA 2009 held at the Grand Ballroom, Eko Hotel, Lagos.
At the event which featured the first ever “African Telecom Hall of Fame Lecture Series,” Multi-Links Telkom’s Internet Service riding on the EV-DO Rev. A technology was adjudged the “Best New Broadband Product of the Year.”
The inaugural lecture of the series was delivered by the Executive Vice Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Engineer (Dr.) Ernest Ndukwe.
He also noted that Telkom SA was honoured with the largest fixed line operator on the African continent.
“It won the award of the ‘Best New Telecom Investor of the Year’ for its investment acumen which led to the acquisition of Multi-Links Telecommunications Limited,” he said.
The award ceremony which was graced by the captains of the telecommunications industry also had in attendance top officials of the NCC and the Chairman of Zinox Computers, Dr. Leo Stan Ekeh among other dignitaries.
While other top officials of Multi-Links Telkom present at the award night were the Executive Product Development, Mr. Andre van Zyl, Rep of CIO, Mafika W. Nkanbule, Acting Executive Advertising and Promotions, Mr. Sunny Nwokoro, acting Senior Manager, and Manager Marketing, Mr. Babawale Oluokun.
