ANAMBRA SECURITY: Masquerade arrested after violent attacks in Awgbu says Police - ITREALMS
The Anambra State Police Command says it has arrested the masquerade seen in viral videos attacking residents in Awgbu, Orumba North Local Government Area, reports ITREALMS.According to eyewitness accounts, the masquerade allegedly kicked a moving motorcyclist during the disturbances, causing the rider to fall and hit his head on a parked vehicle. The victim was said to have sustained severe injuries and was later confirmed dead, heightening public concern in the community.

MRA blasts SNM for calling on Police, security agencies to restrict FOI Act - ITREALMS
Media Rights Agenda (MRA) has condemned in strong terms a recent statement by a group of individuals describing themselves as Save Nigeria Movement (SNM) urging the Police and other security agencies to "checkmate" the activities of non-state actors allegedly blackmailing and extorting government officials using the Freedom of Information (FOI) Act.
The SNM, in a statement jointly signed by Rev Solomon Semaka and Dr Richard Oduma, who described themselves as the Task Force on Illegal CSOs co-conveners, called on the Inspector-General of Police and the intelligence services to strengthen their efforts and beam their searchlight on the activities of criminal syndicates which specialised in blackmailing and extorting unsuspecting government officials using the FOI Act.

The Anambra State Police command has invited the family of former President, Onitsha Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Okechukwu Akaneme over the alleged Police involvement in brutalisation that saw him currently hospitalised with a broken spinal cord injury, reports ITREALMS.The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for Anambra State, DSP Toochukwu Ikenga while responding to inquiries by ITREALMS, disclosed that his office is yet to receive any such report formally.

The Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE) has condemned the spate of abduction and arrest of journalists in the country by security agencies, especially the Nigeria Police Force, under the guise of enforcing the Cyber Security Act, and warned of the consequence of such illegal actions on press freedom, reports ITREALMS.The professional body of media executives and senior editors also warned of the dangers of allowing certain territories of the Nigerian states falling into the hands of terrorists and bandits, and expressed optimism that the federal government has all it takes to flush out these enemies of the country, and guarantee peace and security of the country and its people.

Akoko-Edo Forum decries attacks on Police, other security agencies - ITREALMS
The Akoko-Edo Development Association (aka Akoko-Edo Forum) has expressed dismay at the recent spate of attacks on security personnel deployed to Akoko-Edo Local Government Area, particularly the police, by some members of the communities.
The forum secretary, Barr. (Mrs.) Mary Opii, in a press statement available to ITREALMS said that the first attack was reported in Ojirami, followed by irate Ojah community youths.
