The need to make health care delivery more accessible and beneficial to the people was the focus of the familiarization visit by the Lagos State Advocacy Team to the new Medical Officer of Health (MoH), Ikosi-Isheri Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Dr. Adebayo Okunade, reports ITREALMS.

Leading the team, the state coordinator on TB network, Mrs Ifelunwa Aipoh restated the team's commitment in ensuring adequate medical treatment for the community dwellers in the various parts of the state.

The Lagos State Advocacy Team of the coalition of civil societies in the health sector has called on stakeholders, philanthropists in the community to collaborate with the government in making the healthcare delivery in the state more accessible to the people, reports ITREALMS.

This the group said would be by supporting with needs identified in their domain as the government alone cannot achieve this.

Funding the health care facilities at the community levels topped the issues brought forward to the Somolu Local Government leadership by the Lagos State Advocacy Team (SAT) during its latest outreach, reports ITREALMS.

Coordinator, Tuberculosis Network, Mrs Ifelunwa Aipoh who spoke on behalf of the team, proposed that the LGA to allow the officer in charge of Bajulaiye PHC access to the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) fund, so as to cater for pressing needs at the facility.

The Lagos State Advocacy Team (SAT) has reiterated the call for better facility upgrade for the Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs), especially in the state, reports ITREALMS.

They also pointed out that proactive actions to upgrade the healthcare facilities by provision of necessary kits for the smooth running and service efficiency will improve good health services for the host communities.

Some host communities of the 15 Community Based Organisations (CBOs) have expressed satisfactions on the proactive steps by the State Advocacy Team (SAT) in Lagos for adequate monitoring, reports ITREALMS.

This, CBOs said came through SAT's follow up in the last quarter to appropriate authorities and stakeholders in monitoring the health care facilities at different five Local Government Areas in Lagos State.

The State Advocacy Team (SAT) of Lagos State met with over 15 Community-Based Organisations (CBOs) to restrategise on how to make health care delivery accessible for the community people through provision of health care facilities, reports ITREALMS.

The Team Lead for Lagos State, Mrs Bunmi Tejumola noted that top on agenda were issues raised on the reports earlier shared from experiences by each CBOs in the last month's session, among others.

This call was made by the State Advocacy Team during a visit to the Medical Officer incharge of Health (MoH) in Ikotun Local Council Development Authority (LCDA) under the Alimosho Local Government.
