Paul Anyebe was a judge of the High Court of Benue State in north-central Nigeria who had a young son with sticky fingers and a sense of adventure It was his role as a dad that endangered his job as a judge.

One night around 1983, Anyebe caught his son attempting to steal from his bedroom. In response, Anyebe pulled his gun in an effort to scare the boy. The gun went off, discharging a bullet which hit and seriously injured the boy. The Attorney-General of Benue State decided to prosecute Paul Anyebe for attempted murder. The Penal Code applicable in Benue State at the time had ample provisions for the crime of attempted murder.

Lagos Chamber of Commerce seeks NCC's partnership on 2022 ICTEL expo - ITREALMS

The Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) has sought the collaboration of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) for the successful execution of the 2022 Information Communication Technology and Telecommunication (ICTEL) Expo.

This was the focus of the discussion between the two organisations, during a courtesy visit by delegates from LCCI to the Commission in Abuja recently.

NUSACC mobilizes $1b Diaspora fund for Nigeria

The Nigeria-USA Chamber of Commerce (NUSACC) has concluded plans to raise $1 billion, about N198.95b Diaspora funds for development in Nigeria, reports ITRealms.

The fund meant to close infrastructure gap in Nigeria, will be mobilized at the 5th International Summit of the Chamber between August 27 and 29, 2015, at Mayflower Renaissance Hotel in Washington DC, the United States.

According to Primus Igboaka, secretary, NUSACC, the business-to-business match-making event will provide opportunities for personal interactions between United States business leaders and Nigerian entrepreneurs, while also creating a platform for them to showcase their products and services, ITRealms gathered.

“They are avenues for market meetings, presentations and match-making between businesses and key industry players,” Igboaka said, adding that players in agriculture, construction and real estate, energy and power, information and communication technology (ICT) and franchising, among others, are expected to be there.

Nigerian Ambassador to USA, Adebowale Adefuye, ITRealms reports, will be the key note speaker, while former minister of finance and coordinating minister for the economy; Dr. (Mrs) Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, will be joined by the consul- general of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in US, Habib Baba Habu, as speakers.

The Nigeria-USA Chamber of Commerce, incorporated in 2009 in the State of Ohio as a non-profit organisation, functions as a unique business and legislative advocacy organization comprising members and professionals with business management, finance and accounting backgrounds.

LCCI to host Expo on ICT






 

Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) has unveiled plans to host Information Communications Technology (ICT) Expo tagged ‘ICTEL EXPO’ which is scheduled to hold at the Federal Palace Hotel, Lagos between 15th and 18th of April, 2015.

ITRealms learnt that ICTEL EXPO 2015 which has the theme “Connecting Businesses, Creating Opportunities” offers four days of inspiration, innovation and information”. LCCI is an event which aims to bring together the stakeholders in the ICT industry, both indigenous and international that will last for four days.

So far, the ICTEL Expo has received the support and endorsement of most of the key industry stakeholders; National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC), Nigeria Internet Registration Agency (NIRA), Federal Ministry of Communication Technology (COMTECH), Computer Professionals Registration Council of Nigeria (CPN) and Co- Creation Hub(CCHUB)

 ITRealms also reports that application for participation for the ICTEL EXPO 2015 is open for brands, organizations who want to seize the opportunity provided by the platform to give visibility to their products and services. The EXPO also promises to provide excellent networking opportunities for business decision makers, innovation mangers, enterprise solution providers, startups investors and all other stakeholders in the ICT industry.
