The strategic leadership appointments were formally announced by the global Internet governance body on October 12, 2026.

The Nominating Committee plays a pivotal role within the ICANN ecosystem, mandated with selecting key leadership personnel across critical governing bodies. These include designated members of the ICANN Board of Directors, the Public Technical Identifiers (PTI) Board, the At-Large Advisory Committee (ALAC), the Country Code Names Supporting Organization (ccNSO) Council, and the Generic Names Supporting Organization (GNSO) Council.

Operating under a mandate of absolute autonomy, the NomCom is structurally designed to exercise independent judgment in its selection processes, remaining free from external direction or stakeholder influence.

Under the new leadership team, the 2027 NomCom will oversee the competitive recruitment and selection processes required to fill essential positions across ICANN’s multi-stakeholder governance structure.

ITREALMS recalled that the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) is a non-profit public benefit corporation established in 1998 to ensure a stable, secure, and unified global Internet. ICANN coordinates and supports the unique identifiers—including IP addresses and domain names—that enable global inter-device communication across the worldwide web.
