His election took place on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, during the committee’s executive session convened at the National Universities Commission (NUC) headquarters in Abuja, according to an official statement released by OOU’s Corporate Affairs Division.

Professor Agboola, who previously served as the committee’s Alternate Chairman, succeeds Professor Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji-Bello, the immediate past Vice-Chancellor of Lagos State University (LASU), following the successful completion of her tenure.

In his acceptance speech, Professor Agboola expressed deep appreciation to his peers across state-owned tertiary institutions, pledging to foster collective action to advance the strategic interests of state universities across the federation. He identified sustainable financing, academic excellence, and proactive policy advocacy as the core pillars of his leadership mandate.

Addressing the leadership transition, Professor Agboola noted that these priorities come at a pivotal moment when public higher education institutions face mounting operational pressures to secure alternative funding streams, modernize infrastructure, and broaden access to quality tertiary education across Nigeria.

The new CVCNSU Chairman also commended his predecessor, Professor Olatunji-Bello, for her visionary stewardship of the committee and congratulated her on her impactful tenure as the 9th substantive Vice-Chancellor of Lagos State University.

A distinguished Professor of Cancer Pathology, Professor Agboola assumed office as the 11th substantive Vice-Chancellor of Olabisi Onabanjo University on October 13, 2022.

Under his administration at the Ago-Iwoye main campus, the university has driven extensive institutional reforms, including the digitization of academic and administrative workflows, comprehensive physical infrastructure upgrades, enhanced staff welfare initiatives, and diversified revenue generation strategies.

These interventions enabled OOU to achieve 100 percent NUC accreditation across its academic programs while securing 57th position in Africa in the Webometrics Global Web Rankings.

All of these brokers and account managers should be avoided at all costs. They took over $80,000 of my investment capital, and they kept asking for additional money before approving and processing my withdrawal request. In the end, I lost all I had invested. The customer service staff rejected every attempt to contact them. Moving on was quite difficult and devastating for me. Thank heavens I listened to a broadcast that explained how scam victims can use Boleyn Magic Hackers Email:(support@boleynonline.com) Services to get their money back…
