The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) Zone C Headquarters in Port Harcourt was filled with tributes and celebration last week as Assistant Comptroller General (ACG) Kamal Mohammed officially retired from active service, reports ITREALMS.
The renovation of the healthcare facility was spearheaded by the Customs Area Controller of Area 1 Command, Comptroller Salamatu Atuluku.
The project aimed to transform a facility that had long been in a state of disrepair into a modern health center capable of serving the needs of officers, their families, and the wider Port Harcourt community.
During the commissioning ceremony, ACG Mohammed expressed deep fulfillment at the transformation.

He highlighted that for a significant period, the clinic had struggled to meet basic healthcare expectations.
He credited the "positive rewriting of the narrative" to the resilience and dynamic leadership of Comptroller Atuluku.

He emphasized that a healthy workforce is the backbone of institutional effectiveness, noting that quality healthcare is fundamental to sustaining productivity and service excellence.
He further explained that the project aligns with the Nigeria Customs Service's Corporate Social Responsibility and the policy thrust of the Comptroller-General, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, which focuses on Collaboration, Consolidation, and Innovation.

ACG Mohammed noted that the clinic would not be exclusive to Customs personnel but would remain open to sister agencies to foster synergy and mutual support.
Earlier in the program, Comptroller Salamatu Atuluku welcomed guests and paid tribute to ACG Mohammed’s distinguished career.

She described the outgoing Zonal Coordinator as a selfless leader whose tenure was defined by a strong emphasis on staff discipline and welfare.

The intervention included restoring electricity, tiling floors, repairing critical bays, and restocking the pharmacy to meet modern operational standards.
