The Queens School Ibadan (QSI) Class of 1990–1995 has donated new instructional and sanitary facilities to its alma mater as part of activities marking its 30th anniversary, reports ITREALMS.
Receiving the project on behalf of management, the Vice Principal (Administration), Mr. Julius Olayemi Oladapo, expressed appreciation to the ’95 set for what he described as a commendable commitment to giving back.
He congratulated the class on its 30th anniversary, assuring that the renovated toilets and upgraded water system would enhance hygiene on campus, while the whiteboards would be put to proper academic use and well maintained.
During the distribution of sanitary towels, a member of the ’95 alumni and Associate Professor at the University of Ibadan, Dr. Omowumi Femi-Akinlosotu, encouraged students to prioritize personal hygiene, especially during their menstrual cycle, noting that attention to such details contributes significantly to overall well-being.
She said contrary to the common saying that teachers’ rewards are only in heaven, the set wanted to demonstrate that teachers deserve and should receive appreciation here on earth.
She also called for a minute of silence to honour deceased classmates.
The Chairperson of the 30th Anniversary Committee, Barr. ’Toyin Sonoiki-Adedokun, commended the cooperation received from the school during the planning and execution of the projects.
The Principal of Queens School Ibadan, Mrs. Aderonke Ogunjoke Ogunsina, represented by the Vice Principal (Academics), Mrs. Moninuola Dorcas Agboola, lauded the alumni for their contributions and urged other sets to emulate the gesture as part of efforts to improve the school’s learning environment.
The anniversary celebration concluded with cultural performances, award presentations, and cash and gift donations to former teachers.
