The Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG) has reaffirmed its commitment to advancing indigenous capacity and deepening Nigerian Content beyond regulatory compliance, reports ITREALMS.
The annual event, themed “Deepening Stakeholders’ Collaboration for Sustainable Economic Development,” served as a platform for senior industry executives, regulators, and local content champions to reflect on progress and recognize excellence within the Nigerian Content space.
Speaking at the Appreciation Night, Olakunle Osobu, NLNG Deputy Managing Director, remarked that NLNG’s vision for Nigerian Content was firmly anchored on leadership, impact, and legacy.
He stated that the company is deliberately moving beyond mere compliance by investing in the growth of indigenous capacity, technology, and enterprises to ensure that Nigerian participation drives innovation, competitiveness, and sustainable national prosperity.
“Our journey in Nigerian Content is about creating opportunities, and not just about meeting regulatory thresholds; building capacity, and enabling growth that endures, through collaboration with the NCDMB and our industry partners,” Osobu stated. “We will continue to empower local enterprises and expand participation across the energy value chain.”
The Executive Secretary of the NCDMB, Engr. Felix Omatsola Ogbe, represented by Engr. Abayomi Bamidele, Director, Capacity Building, lauded NLNG for sustaining the Stakeholders’ Retreat as a forum that promotes open dialogue, collaboration, and shared growth.
He noted that the retreat provides a crucial opportunity for both organizations to deepen their partnership and accomplish NLNG’s business objectives.
Engr. Ogbe pointed out that joint projects, including the Service Level Agreement (SLA), Technical Working Group (TWG), and staff secondment are ample evidence that a regulator and operating company can maintain a symbiotic relationship beneficial to their operations and the wider economy.
He specially commended NLNG for the remarkable strides recorded in the execution of the Train 7 project and the tangible local content contributions made to the national economy, urging the company to deliver on other strategic initiatives to set an example for the industry.
The week-long programme emphasized local capacity development. It commenced with a community contractors capacity development programme, followed by a mini-exhibition for Bonny community vendors.
This exhibition allowed local entrepreneurs to showcase their products, innovations, and capabilities to industry players.
The initiative, done in collaboration with the NCDMB, forms part of NLNG’s continuing effort to empower local suppliers and boost the Bonny Island economy.
The retreat also featured a tour of the Train 7 project site, a movie premiere, social activities, and a sporting competition between the NCDMB and NLNG teams.
