A renowned economist and management scholar with over three decades of experience in higher education and human capital development, Prof. Austin Nosike, has been appointed the substantive Vice Chancellor of James Hope University, Lekki-Lagos, reports ITREALMS.
Prof. Nosike, who has held senior academic and administrative positions across Africa, Europe, America, and Asia, brings to James Hope University a wealth of teaching, research, and consultancy experience.
He has previously served as Head of Department, Dean, Director, and Deputy Vice Chancellor in various institutions, and has consulted for governments, international agencies, and NGOs on globalization, corporate governance, development management, and human ecology.
As Vice Chancellor, Prof. Nosike assumes the role of Chief Executive and Academic Head of the university, with responsibility for leading its academic mission, financial management, and external relations.
His tenure is expected to deepen the institution’s commitment to academic excellence, international best practices, and innovation in higher education.
James Hope University, established through the philanthropic vision of Mr. Jim Ovia, founder of Zenith Bank and James Hope College Foundation, was licensed by the Federal Government of Nigeria in 2021.
The university has since commenced academic activities with a focus on delivering world-class education and research.
Born in 1972, Prof. Nosike graduated with distinction from Anambra State College of Education and earned his BSc (Hons) in Economics from the University of Nigeria in 1993.
He later pursued graduate and postgraduate studies in Poland, the UK, Hungary, France, Spain, Mexico, and Nicaragua, holding multiple advanced degrees including a PhD in Economics (Distinction) and a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA).
Over his career, he has organized more than 100 international conferences and supervised numerous PhD and Master’s students to completion. He has authored over 200 academic works, including books, journal articles, and conference papers, and sits on editorial boards of several international journals.
Prof. Nosike’s appointment is widely seen as a step towards consolidating James Hope University’s vision of becoming a centre of excellence in teaching, research, and community impact.
