Troops foil terrorist supply chain in Yobe, seize fertilizer, drugs – ITREALMS

Troops of the Joint Task Force (JTF) North East, Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), have intercepted a major terrorist logistics supply chain in Yobe State, seizing large consignments of fertilizer, drugs, and other materials intended for insurgent groups, reports ITREALMS.

According to a press statement issued by the Media Information Officer of OPHK, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, and made available to ITREALMS, the breakthrough was recorded on 16 September 2025 during snap checks along the Nguru–Gashua road under Operation DESERT SANITY IV.

At about 0740 hours, troops stopped a red 14-tyre trailer loaded with suspicious consignments and moved it to a secured location for detailed inspection. By 2100 hours the same day, a search uncovered 700 bags of NPK 20:10:10 fertilizer—known to be a critical component in making Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs)—alongside 27 cartons of assorted drugs and nine cartons of normal saline solution. The items were concealed beneath bundles of fabric materials.

Further intelligence revealed that the consignment was destined for onward movement into Niger Republic, exposing a wider cross-border terrorist supply network. Earlier that same day, at about 1030 hours, troops along the axis also intercepted two Sharon vehicles and another trailer transporting fabrics and solar panels allegedly intended for producing uniforms and equipment for insurgent fighters.

“All drivers, motor boys and the recovered items are currently in custody, pending further investigation and the arrest of identified consignees and consignors,” the statement noted.

The Theatre Command assured the public that troops remain vigilant and fully committed to dismantling logistics networks sustaining terrorist activities in the North East. The Military High Command also commended the troops for what it described as impressive operational performance.

Citizens were further urged to continue providing timely and credible intelligence to security agencies to strengthen ongoing counter-terrorism efforts.
