The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has warned against use of unofficial statistics in the nation’s telecommunication sector, reports
ITREALMS.

NCC also made it clear that only the commission and National Bureau of Statistics are the authentic data sources on the Nigerian telecommunications sector.
The Director Public Affairs at NCC, Dr. Ikechukwu Adinde in a recent statement available to
ITREALMS in rebuttal to a media report that Nigeria recorded some 3,000,000 new subscribers in the first quarter of 2021, despite the suspension on the registration of new subscribers.

“We wish to use this opportunity to clarify that the Nigerian Communications Commission and the National Bureau of Statistics are the only authoritative sources of authentic data on the Nigerian telecommunications sector,” he said.

As a matter of corporate policy and consistent with international best practice, he said that relevant data and statistics are transparently reported and regularly updated on the Commission’s website for free use by interested Stakeholders.

Further, he urged stakeholders to disregard any information on subscriber data different from those presented in the Commission’s website.
